ok, just a couple 🙂
The only time I ever saw the La-9 flying, amazing to watch…

Glad you like the photos Fluffy, two 109’s behind the Lanc, that must be one amazing piece of video!
Doesn’t look like it I’m afraid, the only shots of Black 2 on the ground are of her parked up with the chocks in place. Oh for another opportunity!
2 more…

Amazing isn’t it? Given the once in a life time opportunity and that’s about it for formation shots of both 109s in the air together, guess I must have been running out of film. These days I’d have filled as microdrive. I’ve got a few more of Black 6 on that day, back in a minute….
A few minutes later in Linconshire…. 😀

Aplogise????? For that photo??????Are you mad????
Well, you know, you get lucky with the lighting on one occasion, post the same shot infinitum and everyone thinks, “ho hum, same old silhouettes again”. 😀
As Damien says, it’s the reason why that’s important, for me the sight of this formation always raises the hairs on the back of my neck. If it wasn’t for the many, many people that paid the ultimate price in these machines, we would be living in a very different world to the one I was lucky enough to be born into.
Some wonderful photos posted here, but for poignancy nothing compares to Mark12s image, it really brings it home.
You’ve seen this one before so apologies for the repost, but this still ranks as one of my favourites for 2003…

Isn’t their some strange Junkers (corrugated skin) flying wing transport with pusher props in one of them too? Never did work out what on earth that was supposed to be!!:D
Its the Short Solent “Halcyon” I believe, at Oakland California

Ages since I’ve seen that film, had forgotten about those Solent shots, isn’t it seen full size as they are boarding it, then as a model in flight?
Moved up to a D-SLR just before the beginning of this years airshow season, and being a long time Nikon user I went for the D100, which I’ve been very happy with.
Seven and a half thousand exposures in 9 months – if that had been film it would have cost me over two grand ( – see, I’ve saved money by buying it, amazing what you can do with statistics!!! 😀 😀 )
Webthumb is one gallery generator that might be worth a look Dave, details at

One of this years efforts from Elvington

Hilarious -films like that are so bad they’re good 😀

Kinda reminded me of the “All new adventures of Wonder Woman”, anyone else remember the “invisible plane” in that?:D 😀
Yes, it was FlyPast that used them this month, got a nice letter from them in the post this morning returning my disc’s and indicating payment would follow latter.
Wouldn’t expect payment from the BBMF, as a member of the Lincolnshire Lancaster Association I’ll just be pleased if they decide to use any of them.
That was nice and quick, post obviously still working in Lincolnshire!!
Ah thanks, standard ‘news’ type ones then, rather than the moody stuff.
Deputy Editor Jarod Cotter saw the original post and mailed me to ask if they could use one or two, so I sent them a CD.
Wonder if the cheque is in the post then 😀 , (mind you I’ve been waiting 2 weeks for some prints of the display I ordered, flippin’ postal strike!! )
thanks!! first time I’ve actually had anything published in a ‘real’ magazine 😀 😀
Out of curiosity which one did they use? I’m working all weekend so won’t be able to get to smiths ’till Monday.
