Recently purchased a few of the “Red Star” publications, namely about Mil-6, Mil-10 and Mil 26, Sukhoi Interceptors and the Bison, still yet to recieve my copies of Soveit Heavy Interceptors and Mig-25. Had a letter from Ian Allen publishers saying the Aerofax book i ordered about the Blinder and Backfire is temp out of stock “******”, already got the Areofax book about the Yak twin jets and it is fantastic.
I think it is fantastic that the likes of Yefim Gordon produces such books about the almost mystical Soveit warbirds, i think a Red Star or Areofax publication about the Su-7 would be nice as well as the Tu-95. More of the same please. 😉

At a purely subjective level, and keeping it on thread as fighters only, I’d go for the Viggen and Su27.
I recall the Spey-engined Phantoms as being noisier than the J79 versions. Anyone else agree?

Totally… I remember RAF Pnantoms blasting overhead when i was young, they always made a unique sound when approaching “my brother and i called it screaching”, J79 powered F-4’s dont screach and are definatley not as loud.
I am always suprised how loud a Nimrod MR-2 can be as well.
As for modern types B-1B, F-15, F-16 and Typhoon are pretty loud.
    I bet a TU-22 or TU-22M can or could make a noise, B-58 Hustler as well… 😎 😎

    TSR-2 certainly..
Not sure if it is completely dead but the Yak-141 Freestyle.
What was that jet/rocket powered aircraft Saunders-Roe made in the 50’s.. That looked cool. 😎

These last few weeks, there has been a lot of Typhoon “and Tornado” activerty over Herefordshire, usually in pairs flying around in large circles for over a hour at times, seems to me its a kind of CAP training. Is there some sort of exercise on at the momment.

Anyone seen the photos taken by Cassini at Saturn… Totally amazing, Titan is such a facinating world with the rivers and lakes of liquid methane. 😎
I really do hope i see a manned lunar or martian landing in my lifetime.
