IAF is really upgrading its bomber capability with all types of new planes entering service being twin seaters…any reason for this choice….

Lessons from Kargil. 2 seater M2Ks outperformed 27s and Jags in taking out NLI positions/dumps.

Short of going to war, the best way to look at a military’s ability is the quality of its foes and the attention paid to it by its competitors.

China leaves its entire western flank without modern aircraft EVEN though the country on the other side of the Himalayas had insisted repeatedly that China is her “Number One Enemy.”

China wouldn’t leave their rear without modern weapons, especially on the border of an openly hostile nation of one billion, unless the forces on the Eastern front is overwhelmingly potent.

GD, I expected better from you 😮 Most of India’s AF is based near western border (aka Pakistan) Does it mean PAF is better than IAF? 😀 Lets not discuss hostility between China and India in this thread.

Infantry and artillery will rule any conflict in Himalayas.

if drops of water keep falling on a stone……one day the stone is crushed.

(thats the best way i could put this sayign in english!! hahahaah)

What is that drops of water you keep talking about? 15 years ago, Pak adopted a policy of bleeding India by a thousand cuts aka Jehadi Terrorist from Pak. India is today stronger and better poised in world order than it was 15 years ago. Can you claim the same about Pak? Look at what whabi madrassa education did to your society and values. And to put salt on injury, not even a inch of Kashmir to show…… 😀

=China real defence budget has long surpassed Indian entire budget. And i can show you this reality.

I don’t see anyone claiming that is not the case H177. But you are not Chinese, are you?

The french lost money on their sale of submarines to Pakistan, which brings into question whether they would even be interested in a follow-up series with Pakistan under the original contract.

So that IN will be forced to buy Scorpions IMO 😡

With all due respect, dats quite a few assumptions…dont u think?

Rehman, he did say that it was a “real” possibility, not a done deal.

When would first indian MKI make its first flight

SKD MKIs are in India. Sometime this year hopefully

when would first LCA enter operational srvice?

Somewhere between 2008 and 2010 with GE engines IMHO

Wot makes u think that by 2015, IAF will b operating 190MKIs and 220 LCAs?

They may not be operating that many, but sure as hell would like to 🙁

Wot guarantees do u have that this deal wont suffer the fate of AJT/Gorshkov deals???

Not unless he is MS 😀

How effective is it to install fuel tanks on top of the wings, aka how much of a RCS reduction is this compared to a plane which does not have it say a JSF design.

Drop tanks are to be replaced with CFT. (my take on it).
