Im so pleased to see this aircraft being carefully saved and when its restored i will gladly drive all the way down to cornwall to see it .Yes now the vulcan is grounded i shall look to these projects and when i can help with donations they need all the money they can get .Thanks for your hard work and looking forward to holidaying in cornwall.
i typed in wl795 on the internet and google brought up load of choices and the facebook page was one of them
I remember the french owned blue spitfire at flying legends some years ago it was definately the fastest there as soon as it was opened up the back wheel was of the grass
I arrived at East midland airport and waited for 4HRS on a cold windy grass bank only to see the vulcan turn for Derby,i was disappointed but im not full of hate and disgust i managed to see the vulcan more since its restoration than during its RAF service or so it seems,i have even got it on Digital video with noise so im saying well done vtts you’ve entertained millions and thanks for the memories.
yes i agree ‘flying pencil’ move to an active airfield have airshows to drum up money and also allow for aircraft to fly in etc to keep the public interested and keep returning back.
Lovely shot of a once proud british aircraft that should of been a world beater……but it was british that was the problem .
Why doesnt the nation give it more land and extend it and the runway further away from the m11.i wonder ?
Wow reading all these big posts from all of you sitting in arm chairs in leafy Surrey etc…. theres always a few who know more than the rest of us. If they had not dropped the bombs maybe i would not be here, my dad was training in the raf and was pretty sure they were going to be bomber crew and that meant going to the far east. He was there and was glad of the end to the war. In the far east there was more inhuman torture going on than in europe, so cant you except that this deed had to be done.We have all the answers now because it is history ,they at the time had none because the next day was there future. Amen.
They used to have warbird airshows as well they were great with a chance to see in the hangars, and close up crowd lines.
Ok i was only joking with the parting out of the shackleton,i dont know how they do it at brunty it cant be nice working on the live aircraft in all weathers ,wonder how much a modern day structure would cost to throw up ,just cladding and steel framework
oh no its not going to be parted out please
Wish it could go to Elvington it would be able to ground run on their long runway next to 2 other iconic cold war jets(4 engined) drum up money for the museum at such events and they could build the hangar of learning on an airfield that is hardly over developed ,infact build it big enough to house or service the other live jets.Lets get all the historic jets together not spread out where you cant afford to travel to regularly.
Last time i saw them was on take-off…….what a waste and the victor at st.mawgan
Crikey chaps i just think we are so very lucky to have a B.29 to go and marvel at on this side of the atlantic.
Does anybody know if the B.29 will still be outside on the jet pan on monday because i will get down there if it is….great shots by the way i travelled down from Stoke to see this take off from RAF Mildenhall when it was going to Duxford which then meant a nite stop in a lay-by in my dads converted camper van and the master cylinder went but we managed to limp home after we filed a 10 pence piece down to fit its all on the old cine film then converted to video then onto disc ‘them were the days’
