Sorry Lincoln that one must have passed me by? Was that the Super Aguri team of a few years ago? If so those drivers certainly never got paid a penny! Pay Drivers do work slightly differently, in so much as win or not the teams dont tend to pay them, rather the other way round.

Why is it that these Prima Donna footballers, don’t have to do like many F1 drivers have to do, ie, if in a race they fail to get into the points, they dont get paid.? and they put their lives on the line every time they go on the track.
Give a footballer a tap on the ankle, and he’s off for weeks, and on full pay.
    Jim.

Sorry Lincoln 7 but the part about F1 drivers not getting paid should they not finish in the points isnt quite correct. They work on a retainer – bonus system. So they would earn 70% of their wage regardless of finishing postions, with any 30% available should they meet the targets set by the team. Red Bull are slightly different with reports indicating they pay more like 60-40 or even 50-50! (maybe thats why Webber always looks so sad?) But if the driver doesnt finish in the points, he will still get paid. Just not quite so much.

And as for Capello, fair play to him. They undermined his authority. He walked. Cant say fairer then that.

Dr Strangelove any photos of the racing mustang? I watch a lot of motorsport here in the UK so i may recognise the car!

In terms of German stuff, we have a 18 month old BMW 320D. Just about to hit 70,000 miles. We dont drive it gently either and its been brilliant. Best family barge we have owned.

I’ve just got myself a 96 BMW M3, how this will fare however……

I wouldnt bother exploring a museum i could pay to go in. As i would simply pay and go in the daytime, much less hassle!

I’m simply nosy and like looking at things that interest me. I see the point about trying to power it up that is rather simple. But to be honest, i’d love a look inside the Nimrod 🙂 And i think most here would as well….

While i’m not condoning their activities, please dont mistake these guys for common vandals. they simply wish to look around and take photos! By all means they should not be tresspassing, but they would be and are the first to be annoyed when exploring somewhere to be greated by graffiti and vandalism.

I’ve done a bit in the past, old pill boxes etc, and the enjoyment of finding a place is always ruined when you find it damaged.

I was only 10 when i went but these are the bits i remember (therefore to me the best things to see as they have stayed with me)

    Caen Peace Memorial

    Point Du Hoc

American Cemetary at Omaha (a must see)

The battery with the guns still in place, Longues Sur Mer is it?

    Falaise

And finally if you dont mind a drive, Mont Saint-Michel. A stunning place. If a bit touristy.

Its been over 10 years since i went but isnt there a very good museum in Caen? Complete with a replica Typhoon hanging from the ceiling.

Also if you have time go to Falaise and see the spitfire (allegedly) bullets in the wall of the castle.
