Surprising nobody had liberated that spade grip 😀
Was in Portsmouth (Gunwharf Quay) this afternoon, had a Spitfire with D-Day stripes fly over – was ML407 down that way today?
Hi Geoff,
I’ve negotiated a pass and am hoping to make it.

I thought he lengthed it just a little, to solve some problem that the original had. Its only what MB would have eventually done anyway – why build a replica that faithfully duplicates some nasty problem of the original?
Read the history of the MB5 and you’ll realise that there were no nasty problems to be solved by some latter-day lookalike builder – everyone who flew it raved about it. 😎
MB enlarged the tail surfaces early on in it’s development and from then on it was just about perfect.
(tubular fuselage frame, rather than stressed monocoque)
The original had a tubular frame too.
There’s a good feature on MB fighters in Wings of Fame vol. 9 if you have access to a copy.
MB5 – very impressive aircraft from a very small company. It’s supposed to have survived until the 60’s, if so then it beggars belief that MB allowed it’s destruction. Unless… 🙂
She Who Must Be Obeyed
Ancient Rider Haggard story, and 60’s film, with Ursula Andress.
Steve, a great ILAFFT story.
LA9 cos it didn’t fly when I was there last year.
I have a desktop, my wife has a laptop, we share a connection. I have two ID’s, so it could be me but I could prove myself innocent with a simple screenie. 🙂
If he’s not a Key invention why doesn’t he give the benefit of his experience on the other forums frequented by the GA community? I’ve not seen anything in his ‘style’, regardless of ID.
I can imagine what would happen on PPrune :p
back on topic…
given that so much VFR traffic is composed of aircraft with side-by-side seating and with P1 on the left, would it possibly work better if he was expected to give way to traffic coming from his left, i.e. that which would be easier to spot because there was less of his own aircraft’s structure in the way to mask it? To put it another way, the one with the best view is expected to take the avoiding action?
There have been similar posts on PPrune etc, where the one with the right of way saw the other guy, but he didn’t (couldn’t?) see them.
Sorry if this is a daft question, but I’m not sure of the reasoning for having it the way it is.
Mike
Here’s a thread about it from last year,

including a few notes from my visit during the hols.
Thats not actully true as i am the photographer
Fair enough then 🙂
That’s a lot of flap to take off with, looks like landing flap (32 deg), hence Moggy’s query I guess.
Wonder why he’s dropped the flaps in that second picture?
Moggy
My theory 🙂
The second picture is actually the first, the pilot then cleans up the landing flap, meanwhile the photographer changes position and takes the other pic. Or, the Avidyne told him to do it 😀
It’s a Cirrus SR20, that particular one has it’s own website – 🙂
Some great pics including it’s transatlantic delivery flight. You will love or hate the interior 😀
snargasher – training aircraft (Canadian usage)
This off a Google. Looks a bit like a variant of the Desford.
