Sounds like a Darwin Awards contender to me! Bear in mind that even 50ft altitude is plenty enough to kill yourself if the ‘structure’ fails.

I think the ‘V2’ in the first pic is more modern, a Polaris or similar.

As I understand it, it was the capsule – the combination was flown up to 48000 ft, the space ship was released and ignited it’s motor, achieving 68000ft and Mach 1.2.
