Loads of Google hits, you’ll find pics of the real thing and the Airfix model which you can probably still get hold of, although it’s 40+ years old. Surviving parts at the Helicopter Museum at Weston-Super-Mare.

Can’t offer help (no talent in any respect), but consider one copy sold. I have a nice pic of my son by the cockpit from the October forum meet, and it would be nice to give him the book to go with it.

    Try this for Hollywood aviators:

Pilots and other air force personnel.

Some interesting names on there, eg: Charlton Heston and Charles Bronson were air gunners?

Sounds like a Darwin Awards contender to me! Bear in mind that even 50ft altitude is plenty enough to kill yourself if the ‘structure’ fails.
Unless you want to terminate your prospective RAF career before it starts, I’d suggest finding another way to get your thrills. 😉

Did a quick Google, results suggest it’s still in use by aeronautics students at Southampton University. Search on the uni plus “kenji takeda”.

I think the ‘V2’ in the first pic is more modern, a Polaris or similar.

Book about the Dambusters and the recent TV prog that put current aircrew through the raid on a simulator.

    Bids now up to $20m…

Interesting to see what the current high bidder has bought recently on Ebay – a pair of walkie-talkies and a Swiss army knife:confused:

Seems to have disappeared now – hoax?:D

As I understand it, it was the capsule – the combination was flown up to 48000 ft, the space ship was released and ignited it’s motor, achieving 68000ft and Mach 1.2.
    This according to the BBC.

I have to say I have the utmost respect for Mr. Rutan.
