    Desperately sad news. I had the pleasure of meeting him once, at a Shoreham museum signing. We all appreciate what the BoB veterans did for us, but Steve went forward and personally expressed those feelings to Bob Doe. Bob was visibly moved.
    I would have looked forward to meeting Steve again.

    Good to see some different pics! Some interesting aircraft – the Aisa 115 looks like it could make a practical private ‘warbird’. I’d never heard of it before, but a Google shows some 450 were built, so there may be a few about… 🙂

    Anthony Fokker was more the CEO, he left the actual designing to his chief designer, whose name has escaped me right now

    Reinhold Platz is the name I think.

    Looks like an indoor shot to my untutored eye, the light looks odd for outdoors.

    If you search for it on Multimap you’ll be able to see the farm roads that follow the lines of the runways/taxiways, but there’s not much left apart from that. I flew over it a few times about 20 years ago and it was almost gone then.

    Quick look on G-INFO shows AOFM is an Auster (still around), AOTM is favourite, was de-registered around 1975. AOST was also a Chipmunk, de-reg around 1970.
