I have quite a collection of ‘Driver’s eye’ videos & DVDs showing various above & below ground lines in real time from the driver’s cab

How do you tell them apart? 😀

On October 1st 1943 Arado 234 V2 (the second prototype) crashed on it’s fifth test flight after an engine fire. The pilot, Flight Captain Selle was killed.

Distiller’s 262 crash predates that, so looks like no prize. 🙂

Surprising how hard this one is. Never thought about it before, but I’d really like to know now! 🙂

people who take their lives in such a manner, are weak. 🙁 Anna 🙁

I think that’s no. 2 in the cliche list, no. 1 being “why can’t they just pull themselves together”. 🙁

Fabulous footage. 🙂 It would be nice to think that somewhere up there the late Hans-Guenther Wildmoser was watching over it all and smiling as he saw his baby fly at last…

Yes it’s a terrible shame he didn’t live to see it fly 🙁

Let’s see how it turns out. I’d love a ride in such a machine! The interior looks sumptious. I’d have to dress up in period costume!

Some interesting facts on that site, eg:

“In 1935 Heracles was airborne on 361 of the 365 days”

I think that’s an amazing achievement.

Maybe someone who’s heard the Hendon a/c running when it was at St. Athan can tell us how they compare.

Sometimes it’s a chemical thing

I was there some years ago, and I guess you have been too, but I never managed to explain it to others so well.
The treatments can be simple and very effective, it’s a tragedy if lives are lost for lack of it.

Suicide is an act of extreme violence against all those left behind as well, and I hope support is available to Geforce and everyone else affected by this sad event.

Great pics of fabulous aeroplanes! 🙂 I have to say though that it turns my stomach to see deck landings that go wrong.. 🙁

Snapper,
I think they are publishing lists of names in batches, but there’s no reason why you can’t email Stephen Gleeson bobhsmembership@btinternet.com and ask if you have particular names you want to sponsor.
Here’s the certificate I received, it was quite unexpected to see a pilot’s name that was so familiar:

My honour

As has been posted here before, you can sponsor the name of a Battle of Britain pilot on the new memorial to be built in London:

http://www.battleofbritain.net/bobhsoc/monument.html

I asked to sponsor any one of the remaining names, and received my certificate today. By chance I have the honour to sponsor the name of

Pilot Officer Francois X. E. de Spirlet
No. 87 Squadron

If you haven’t done so already, do follow the link and give it some thought.
