I did once (well her dad was a naval Commander) after she gave me a knee in the nadgers when we split up i can definitely say ‘ i lost that loving feeling’….sigh…
It brings a lump to my throat. I bet it brought one or two to yours as well!
Here is a pic of the very short Richthofen mistreating his dog by speaking to it in German.
The Cad!
Here’s something further from an American military website
In 1950, the US Continental Army Command placed a requirement with the Ordnance Corps for a new vehicle to replace the M38A1. A year later, the Ford Motor Company was awarded a development contract for the new vehicle, and the first prototype was completed in 1952…….
…Some of the advanced features in the design of the M151 caused some initial problems, such as the strength of the rear suspension system, and the high risk of vehicle roll-over.
…Because of the earlier roll-over problems, the US Government decided that the M151 was unsafe for use on public roads, despite a safety kit (called R.O.P.S, the Roll Over Protection System) being developed. A mandate was issued that all M151’s were to be scrapped before being released to the public. Initially achieved by cutting the vehicle in half (allowing some ingenious restorers to weld the halves back together again), the vehicles now have to be crushed by a tracked vehicle.
I’d love to see that last bit! American lawyers huh! Oscar Duck’s hasn’t been delivered as a flat pack has it?
Mega!
Seeing as I cant actuall see the hills between Oxford and Brize at the moment, and I am on the top of County Hall facing Brize!
I’d be surprised if it happens.
I can’t resist it…….DON’T JUMP!!
When I saw TT’s name and the title “The Last Drop” I thought it meant his pint of Guinness!
Thank you!
[When I enquired with ITN/Movietone news re an 8 second article from 1958 the price from the ITN archive department was exhorbitant
If you’re wanting to access period newsreel for your own private research, try http://www.britishpathe.com who offer free low resolution downloads.
A warning though, if you’re like me once you start you’ll still be going through the archive hours later!
I wouldn’t mind a copy, if poss? Even a photocopy would be good.
Drop me a PM with your address and t’will be done
She looks stunning but, pardon my ignorance, what are the Sketchley wire coat hangar-things around the tailplane?
Just found a copy of Wings on My Sleeve via http://www.abebooks.com, if anyone else is looking.
Thanks Mark 12,
Sadly it appears to be out of print at the moment, but I’ll get searching………..
If you ever get the chance Larry66, to go to a talk given by Eric ‘Winkle’ Brown RN, take it with both hands. He was one of the test pilots who had to fly and evaluate these things at the end of the war, and some of his comments will put your hair firmly on end!
Thinks…isn’t it about time someone persuaded Eric to put his memories into print (heavy hint to Mr Ellis!)
Was going to post an upside down picture of a Luton Minor, to see whether you’d notice!
But…..have you seen the latest copy of ‘Vintage and Classic’ magazine, the journal of the Vintage Aeroplane Club?
It’s got a three-page review by Richard Keech on flying the Taylor Monoplane prototype.
If you want to pm me with your postal address, I’ll forward it to you, unless you can get to the VAC Turweston fly in on the 29th?
Two new records set here. The first is that its got to be the earliest “Will it be at Legends” thread ever……….
……and TT’s maintained his 100-percent record in getting a plug in for Sywell Air Show!
Excellent!!
