In answer to the original question….ebay!
Except for HP57 Throttle Boxes which are all carefully boxed up and put in a large Raiders of the Lost Ark warehouse so Cees can’t get them :p
🙂

I thought we gave (sorry donated) all our rubbish to TT! 😀
It distinguished itself by wrapping itself up in a ball at the feet of the new purchaser at the end of the delivery flight. No harm done to the occupant but a disgruntled new owner.
I now know from experience last week, that in terms of peer pressure there’s nothing as scary as landing an aeroplane in front of its new owner.
Thankfully Gasmantle let me get away with a perfect three-pointer. Proving there’s always a first time!
Thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like I’m going to have a lot of aeroplanes to look at over the next few months!
And yes TT, work on the BE-2 replica is still continuing apace! It’s getting very tall!
As its a private farm strip, its not fair to say exactly where it is being based.
Loadsa Luton Minor pictures, including Gasmantle on the http://www.lutonminor.com website, which I’ll be continuing to look after!
Sad to hear about the Tu-114 at Domodedovo….but Flanker, what’s that big yellow taildragger in the third shot above?
Standing at the end of the runway last Monday, it clearly worked! 😀
More seriously, I’ve got some photos somewhere which I took at Samlesbury in the early 1970s and I’ll try to dig them out this weekend.
I seem to remember there were a bunch being refurbished to be sent to a chap called Pinochet in Chile, sound fella don’t you know! :diablo:
I’ve seen varous things on a number of forums ranging from:
Originally 1 to the US and 2 stay here.
Then: 2 to Kemble and the other ??
The others I’ve heard are two to South Africa and one to Switzerland.
and
Two to Kemble and one to Exeter.
The truth must be in there somewhere
Falcon Aviation, who are handling the handover to the new owners, tell me that the three aeroplanes will remain with Delta Jets at Kemble for the forseeable future.
I think a big thankyou is due to Delta Jets, Falcon and Kemble for offering us all the chance to “get up close” to the Canberras tomorrow morning. See you there!!
Now, would one of the Canberras make a nice static exhibit at the forthcoming PFA ‘Flying for Fun’ Rally there in August!
Excellent news.
Any ideas who got the third?
John
Sorry John, but I can only speak for two out of the three, XH 131 and 135.
I guess if I threatened to tell you who has 134, somebody might have to shoot me 😀
Thanks for this heads-up Steve…………
sadly I’ll be unable to make Kemble on Monday,but………………..
long-shot maybe, but do you know their routeing(for example, will they come anywhere near dear ol’ Diddycote??????)
cheers

Hmmmmm. Don’t know, but there’s a good chance someone in Marham might get to read this………….. 😎
I suspect the Brigand incident may have been due to a ‘short’ or even a static electricity discharge in the electrical firing circuit.
An old family friend who flew Venoms in the 1950s once told of a similar scenario in Germany when a couple of rounds were fired by a parked aeroplane, neatly going either side of an ‘erk’ who was crossing the apron in front of it!
Apparently the problem was sufficiently frequent for the poor erk to be charged for disobeying a standing order that no-one crossed in front of ‘live’ armed aeroplanes!
For the sheer pleasures of flying, “Airymouse” and “Cloud Cuckooland” by Harold Penrose. (They inspired me to buy the Luton Minor..and I’m not the only one!)
For open-mouthed “who did they do that?”; “We Landed by Moonlight” by Hugh Verity.
And for a pilot’s eye-view of flying just about everything oddball, “Delta Papa” by Derek Piggott.
Was looking at this through my window last night.
Do goggles qualify as windows?
At the moment, the planned VAC ‘do’ at Turweston in September and maybe an October trip to Fenland to reunite it with former flyers there might be planned……
…that is if I still own her. I’ve had three calls from potential buyers in the last two days!!
🙂
I’d stay away from Dave T though mate – they put teenagers down the mines and eat those who dont work hard enough down West Country Way! 😀
TT
So that’s what Ginsters put in those pasties! :diablo:
Are they trying to impersonate Old Warden with the flour bombing and barnstorming? 🙂 😀
I think you’ll find that the people doing the Barnstorming started with that long before Odl Warden!!
Blue Max was doing the ribbon pick-ups with the Chipmunk, something that his Dad was a bit of a master of, in the days of the original Barnstormers Flying Circus in the 1960s!! 😀
