this is’nt just your regular Flanker..its a Bars N011M and 3D TVC equipped fighter that has an equipment fit better than any other Flanker..I can hardly see how a Typhoon would ‘eat’ an MKI without taking a mauling itself..

DRDO chief confirms submarine ballistic missile ready

    http://bharat-rakshak.com/NEWS/newsrf.php?newsid=8890

Express News Service ;New Delhi, July 7: The country is set to complete its nuclear triad with DRDO indicating that it has completed development of a Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM). While earlier DRDO refused to comment on the project, its chief M Natarajan on Saturday said a “special purpose missile” for the Navy has been launched.

Ministry sources said he was referring to the Sagarika or PJ 02 project SLBM. The two-stage missile, with a range of over 800 km, has been successfully tested thrice.

This will give India the capability to launch nuclear weapons from land, air and under sea.

Sources said an award for developing a “special armament system for a strategic programme of national importance” given to a team led by S K Vasudeva is an indication that the project would shortly be made public.

The missile has been developed for deployment on the indigenous nuclear submarine code named Advanced Technology Vehicle. The submarine is scheduled for sea trials next year.

DRDO also said it was working on an advanced version of the Agni III to increase its range by 1,500 km. Natarajan said scientists working on the project have figured out a way of adding a third stage to the missile that will push up its range to 5000 km.

“It looks possible to extend the range in the same model. We may be able to fit in another phase to extend it to another 1,500 km,” Natarajan said. The Agni III missile will be ready for induction into strategic command by 2010.

Joey, you are mixing it up as well here- the media reports indicated that Sagarika was tested thrice but they did’nt mention that it was tested aboard the ATV- my guess is that they either confused it with the Dhanush or else the IN and DRDO have secretly tested the Sagarika aboard one of the upgraded Kilo subs.

is there a link that you could post for this news ? besides, for the purpose of Air Police, Eurofighters of any tranche are more than adequate and Austria will hardly need to use its Typhoons for anythng else. so if it saves them some money, its not a bad idea at all !

wow ! quite a comprehensive upgrade for the F1s..I’m a little surprised that the F1’s nose can fit a RDY-3 size antenna..whats the diameter of the F1s nose and the size of the RDY-3 antenna ?

i have lower resolution images of Lsp-1 but i have asked for higher resolution images of LSp-1 after its maiden flight for my site (http://www.lca-tejas.org) still no answer from them ,time to bug them again 😉 😉

Coldfire, if you’re the owner of lca-tejas.org, please correct the Test pilots database- its Captain Moulankar, not Wing Cmdr Moulankar.

PUNE: A 200-member Indian Air Force (IAF) team and six Sukhoi-30 combat jets are set to travel to the UK this month to participate in the first joint air exercise in British airspace aimed at enhancing bilateral defence cooperation.

The IAF contingent, which will set off for the Royal Air Force (RAF) airbase at Waddington on June 24, will take part in the Indradhanush-07 exercise slated to be held from July 2 to July 12.

Besides the Su-30MKI jets of IAF’s Pune-based 30 Squadron, nicknamed the Rhinos, one IL-78 mid-air refuellers will also participate in the exercise. Britain and India held their first joint air exercise in Gwalior last year.

The Il-78 will refuel the fighters taking a long ferry route with stopovers at Doha in Qatar and Tangara in Greece. The jets will reach Britain on June 28.

While the IAF will field the Su-30s, the RAF will use its Tornado, Hawk and Typhoon combat jets, VC-10 tankers and AWACS in the exercise.

Air Marshal KD Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Air Command, arrived at the Pune airbase on Friday and addressed the contingent at a parade before its departure on Sunday.

Group Captain Girish Saini is leading the IAF contingent as the exercise director, while Wing Commander A C Chopra is the deputy leader. Wing Commander Bharti will lead the 20 fighter pilots and two navigators, the latter also doubling up as weapon system operators in the Su-30s.

Before the exercise, the Su-30s and the Il-78 will participate in the Waddington Air Show to be held from June 30 to July 1.

After the end of the exercise in Waddington, two Su-30s and the Il-78 will join the Royal Air Tattoo to be held at the RAF airbase in Fairford during July 16-18, a release said.

they may be wrongly referring to the earlier made offer for 40 off-the-shelf Rafales ? This is too big a news to be made by just 1 news channel..ignore it.

Read my posts again. You seem to be having difficulty reading the full posts as per your own statements. The 30 mile figure is for current systems and not some future pie-in-the-sky figure. And yeah…ill keep watching out for your kS-172 that is going to render all awacs useless from 300km+ away. Boeing and Saab and China might as well close all the AWACS projects right now and call it quits!. The KS-172 is on the way…God help humanity!

whoever gets the first shot gets the advantage because the opponent is’nt going to hang around waiting for the missile to come within 30 miles of him before engaging countermeasures and maneuvers. the fact is that a missile that’ll initially home in on radar emissions and will go active only on reaching its terminal phase will force the AWACS and its escorts to go on the defensive. a first shot still counts, and whether you like it or not, LRAAMs are being developed- and AWACS will be targeted because of they are prized assets. that of course does’nt mean that AWACS will be made redundant by such LRAAMs. but any soldier worth his salt wont underestimate such a threat. since you’re anything but a soldier, you’re most welcome to keep your head up your rear and keep shouting “I tell you it wont work, it wont work from that distance” :diablo:

oh and Boeing, Saab and China are’nt the only ones developing AWACS. typical of you to twist it around to make it look like only the PAF could be a victim. if a comparable system is developed by China and supplied to the PAF, it’ll be a threat to the IAF’s Phalcons and DRDO AEWACS too.

the Su-30MKI uses a locally made IFF that was initially being developed for the Tejas LCA.

Cant agree with the above. AEWs are useds by all airforces as multipliers. It does not mean that the aircraft they support are deficient. If that were the case, the implication would be that US, Nato, Russia and China are all operating AEW platofrms to cover the deficiency of their aircraft. WHich ofcourse isnt the case.

As for the long range awacs shooters, im yet to see one work. The longer the range, the more time awacs has to take countermeasures and the less energy the missile has by the time it gets to the target. Missile hit ranges beyond 60 miles (30 miles if you ask me) are meaningless and not to be taken seriously.

please go tell that to the customers and makers of the Meteor that all the work they’ve been putting in is all waste since you discovered that 30 miles should be the max range of any possibility of a kill..
