Then why all the sour grapes and racial slurs? Why not just accept the fact that Chinese military aircraft are sold around the world and India’s are not? I mean, there’s no point in denying that Bangladesh and Nigeria just recently bought Chinese fighter jets.

Or that 150 Chinese aircraft were sold by AVIC between 2004 and 2005 to India’s big fat ZERO.

    Just look at the numbers.

Oh a new Chinese trainer flew just today, the L-15. Just accept pure, unadulterated numbers and stop being so jealous and peeved. Only a small man is worried about someone’s else pride. Be proud of your own ability instead of needing to bring someone else down.

coz, you are a racist. pure and simple. under the veneer of being “superior” to the “poor Indians”, you’re actually showing ur own insecurities. and just because India does’nt steal/reverse engineer Russian designs and sell it does’nt mean that the Chinese industry is any better..heck, we could’ve been selling MiG-21s and MiG-27s all over, since they were totally built in India, but there lies the difference between India and China.

we are proud of what India can and has achieved. but your previous posts have been nothing but demeaning of India and you deserve to be dealt with the same way that you have been with others.

BTW, that’s not a Pakistani FC-1 but a Pakistani F-7PG. Please note the double-delta wing.

could’nt care less for what model it is, but it is Paaki.. 😀 how could u slip up so big GoldenDragon ?

It could certainly be done, just look at the JL9. Just slap the JL9’s forward section on a J7 and you would have room for a decent sized radar. J7G/E style double delta wings will also improve agility, and other mods (F16I style conformal tanks, better turbofan engines etc) could be applied to give it extra range.

the F-16 growth was accompanied by increases in engine thrust as well..nothing like that on the J-7 front, so the CFT wont be a worthwhile addition.

Of course India didn’t. If you build an aircraft that is still owned by someone else then you can’t sell it. China doesn’t have that problem. Chinese aircraft are made in China and China sells them. India simply didn’t and doesn’t have anything sellable.

of course, we’ll conveniently forget that the original designs for ALL CHinese aircraft are foreign and have been either stolen or reverse engineered..how ORIGINAL !

Chinese aircraft like the J-7 or Y-12 and any of the dozen or so export models made in China are owned by China. No embargo can stop the J-7 from being produced because all the parts are made in China.

you proudly claim that the J-7 is Chinese when its nothing other than a rehash of a MiG-21..same with the Y-12..obviously stealing/reverse engineering without permission and selling as your own design is a Chinese art..

Licensed built, the Z-9 is one of those aircraft where China created as a joint venture with EuroCopter. If China “xeroxed” it, Eurocopter wouldn’t be continuing with five other projects in China.

And it has sold and will sel more in the futurel, unlike the Dhruv. Unlike the Dhruv, the Z-9 fleet won’t be grounded because of a foreign part.

ya right ! Joint venture huh ? why not be honest and call it what it really is ? a rip off ? and the only reason Eurocopter will come back to get its products “joint ventured” with the Chinese is coz it makes economic sense to be a part of the “joint venture”//else the Chinese will anyway simply steal designs/reverse engineer it and Eurocopter wont get a penny out of it..

My first post was actually to a fellow Chinese, TinWing, stating in no uncertain terms that his thread is nothing but a flamebait since there is no comparison between India and China. There is no connection and no relevancy between the two of them.

a view that you and only you have.. 😀 and if others share it, well ignore India at your won peril// 😉

Actually, my attitude is that of a Chinese, mainland or otherwise. I’m as proud of Taiwan and Hong Kong as I’m of China.

Taiwan is NOT Chinese..so dont link it to ur stupid ego. The Taiwanese that I’ve met out here in the US are vehemently opposed to “unification” bull****. if you do end up swallowing it, dont go around claiming its coz u “love” Taiwan.

Face it. For too long, Indians here were able to get away with these idiotic insults like “drones” and “clones” and “communist propagandists” because many of the Chinese here simply ignored it.

I find it distasteful that a people who have nothing to crow about not only insults the Chinese but also Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans as “tinpot dictatorships” and “incompetents” just because they buy Chinese aircraft.

This is’nt something that Indians came up with  ..its something that the Western media started and we all happen to know that its true, so we use it as well..if you dont like it, go cry in a corner. we could’nt care a fig for your percieved insults. 😀

Everyone else at least acknowledges that they buy Chinese aircraft becos its easy on their pockets or in some cases, cos they have no other options. given a choice between Western or Russian armament and Chinese, no sane person would pick the Chinese.

Actually, I find that even more disturbing. I can partially understand the hatred of China because of jealousy and misplaced rivalry. But insulting people just because they bought Chinese aircraft is indicative of deep and bizarre hatred. Hating not only your (imagined) rival but also all of his friends

Now where were you when your friends were calling us “drones” and “clones” and using stupid little insults like “Oracle” for Pakistanis

And don’t insult Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Sir Lanka and other buyers just because they bought Chinese. If you do that, then you better answer what makes India better than them when Indians are among the poorest and most desperate peoples in the world.

Who cares, China is only interest in making progress on their countries. What india do is your business. Why should China give a damn about it. It is not arrogance, but mind your own business altitude. There are simply no need to make a fuss about nothing, when India and China each have many things need to acheive.

learn some English first before coming across and making stupid patronising statements..

Why should chinese aprreciate what India did. your acheivement is your business, why should chinese cares.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Keep the freedom thing for yourself.

sour grapes huh ?! loving Communism is it ? 😀

Wow, so India is so peaceful. Sri Lanka wants to join india and Pakistani generals acknowledge your goody 😮 . Give me a break 😀 .

facts will remain facts, whether you like it or not..India never started any war, it was always thrust upon it. and who the hell said that Sri Lanka wants to JOIN India ?! you’re twisting statements and then poking fun at it.

    I think its Astra

The quote above is from interview with M. Natarajan, the DRDO chief and the scientific advisor to the defence minister published in Force magazine

the Astra’s quoted range is more like 70 kms, not 10 kms.

Does anybody have any evidence for the Derby on Indian Shars, I have seen several reports saying that the plan to upgrade the SHARS with Israeli kit was dropped and I have never seen a photo of a SHAR with a derby, or a report of sales of that missile to India.

we don’t like the MiG-29s they suck basically. Not useful for the kind of doctrine we have – western as opposed to soviet tactics the Indians are still growing out of. this means we want our pilots to get good air time and with a high maintenance item like the MiG-29 we can’t achieve that with our limited budget.

what utter rubbish ! the IAF follows the Soviet doctrine and the BAF is Western oriented in its doctrine ?! 😀 You’re talkin bout the IAF which has been praised by USAF personnel who trained with it ? they specifically debunked the “IAF follows the soviet doctrine” theory that you’re talking about..the IAF uses its own tactics, its own operational doctrines. We’re big enough to do that. whereas the BAF needs to be trained in China or whereever…

lets take u on ur word..:D..so the BAF follows Western type independent fighter operations without the use of GCI with onboard-radars that have a range of less than 20 kms ? perfect for getting walloped by any half-decent fighter force..

and the MiG-29s suck as compared to the F-7Bs ? 😀 if you guys cant operate a decent fighter, dont go about maligning it..it would knock the stuffing out of the F-7s anyday !

Indian bureaucracy is notorious for its never-ending paperwork and red tapism..no reason why this deal woud’nt be plagued by the same.

Hammer, there was talk of transferring the entire Mirage-2k production line to HAL for sole Asian sales rights..Dassault hoped to make big sales of the Mirages in Brazil and India and then after having transferred production rights to them, devote itself to the Rafale and probably reap royalties from the South Americans and Asians who purchased the Mirages..actually, the HAL guys could’v made a good product of it, but the fact is that they should be concentrating on the Tejas instead.

The Times of India, 1 November 2005
Navy Pilots head for ‘top gun’ training in US
New Delhi: The Navy has now sent its first batch of rookie fighter pilots to the US for training on combat maneuvers from aircraft carriers. The aim is to build a pool of pilots to fly MiG-29Ks from Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkow, now rechristened INS Vikramaditya, when it’s inducted by end of 2008. Under the $26-million agreement, 32 Indian Navy pilots will undergo the 18-month training programme for carrier-borne operations with the US Navy over a four-year period. ‘The first four pilots are now in the US after initial training with IAF. The next batch will go after six months’, said a senior Navy officer on Sunday.

“Officials said that this move was “to overcome these deficiencies and to prepare naval aviators to fly MIG 29K, which will be acquired to operate from the Russian carrier”.

Naval officials said that under the new agreement it was proposed to train naval pilots at US naval training institutions.

“An agreement is likely to be signed in another ten to 15 days and naval fighter pilots would start commencing training by September end,” the officials said.

They said naval pilots after grading on piston-engined HPT-32 basic trainers will proceed to US Navy’s air station at Corpus Christie in Texas.”
