Sorry about that 😮
cranfield airport, bedford, MK43 0AL.
gates open around 9am and the first run will be just before lunch.
ps take ear plugs/defender’s you’ll need them!!!
I’m really sorry to hear that 🙁
I had an AEF in 1985 while in the ATC in XV234 out of Kinloss, we were tail chased by 2 lightnings over the north sea and the pilot’s attempts to shake them off had me filling 2 sick bag’s 😮
the flight lasted 4Hrs 50mins and we landed at binbrook for a short while before returning to Kinloss (where i was still to ill to eat tea that night 🙁 :D)
happy memories, blue skies nimrod 🙁
Brutal beauty!
Come on guy’s, who’s up for a fast taxy run in her this year then?
not only do you experience the awesome power of the greatest ALL BRITISH fighter ever built but the money raised helps keep what is sadly one of last live T5’s alive and what a T5 she is :dev2:.
Because of the hard work and dedication of Russell and his team she’s one of the few still here for all to get up close too, where else in the uk can you sit in an EE Lightning with the afterburner’s blazing.
I did a run last october, it blew me away that much I’m having another go this year, a run in her is pure heroin.
so come on if you call yourself an aviation enthusiast get your hand in your pocket and get your name on the list to experience something that very few people will ever get the chance to do, remember she only performs so many run’s each year, so if you snooze you loose!
You will not be dissapointed!
you know you want too!
That’s the spirit Naisho966, if santa doesn’t come up trumps save your pennies and contact Russell for a run next year 😀
I can promise you it really is a chance in a lifetime experience and well worth the money.
Sadly coming from cumbria I can’t make the classic flight do on the sunday, I’ll be winging my way back up the M6 🙁
mind you I’ll be on a high after seeing XS458 strut her stuff again :D.
see you there.
ps Huw, just been looking at your jet photo’s and you certainly know how to point a camera mate.
Cheer’s for the reply lads and hope to see you there, I’ll be the one trying to hook a lightning to my car to tow it home 😀
Thanks for the reply lads, but I was talking about applying the re-heat while rolling. as explained by Andy I think that what I saw in august was a dual re-heat but with a slight lack of flames and shock diamonds showing due to the minor niggles on the No2 unit.
I have always loved Lightnings and went to the August CWJ day and had a brill time apart from the weather late on in the day  (I even posted a message on the thunder and lightnings site regarding the fantastic job the team at brunty do)
I had such a great day that I wanted more and I paid for me and my son to fast taxi in Russell carpenters T5 what a rush !!!, next time I’ll offer Dennis Brooks £10k to leave the re-heats on and pull back on the stick :diablo:
Can’t wait for saturday, and very fitting to hold it in memory of Dave Stock (very sad news about his accident), I had been e-mailing thunder city for a while with a view to flying next year.
funny isn’t it, I was only ever going to post one thread on the forum but I can’t keep off here 😀
Hi guys, I’ll be coming down for this one from cumbria.
Will they light both engines up this time as at the last run in august they on put one engine into re-heat 🙁
