Indian -made battledress would also have been supplied as replacement items to any and/or all British and Commonwealth units in-theatre through the supply chain. This forum discussion is also relevant – but also implies that the button on its own surely cannot be used to determine which armed service the clothing originates from.

In the light of the above, some of the comments in the thread below were sadly prophetic

Would have thought they had learned their lesson with the Battle.

Funny how the Typhoon transit damage hasn’t been mentioned before………………..

    Quoted without comment

Unfortunately the wing spar fittings were damaged in the move, so symmetry will be out overall and scanning those components won’t provide accurate data. Initially the scan was to be the entire aircraft, with the spar attach fittings being compromised and geometric data available for cowl panels and rear fuselage, it was decided to focus on the wing for this trip.

Well the new arrival is a bit of a Film Star and still wears some of the colours applied for the Memphis Belle Film of 1989. We are told he appears twice!

Who knows what colour, what name or whether he will be Legends… (got in there first!)

The red Tug is Theresa, whereas the scruffy light green one is the original and world famous Terence the Tug.

Perhaps Theresa prefers a bit of rough………………

Ok…that couldn’t have flown by now xD
Are there really no drawings of those aircraft at all?

    Well………………

That Hungarian restoration shop seems to have managed with the Norwegian/DTM Ju88s and Mr Harada seems to be getting on quite well with his Mitsubishi G4M Betty so it’s clearly not insurmountable.

…..and for which FHC is offering a reward to acquire any Fw189 drawings as well as those for Ju87, Ju88 and Betty

My understanding is that the Indian Air Force Historic Flight is ambitious in the medium to long term and will be modelled on the BBMF.

I would anticipate three airworthy Spitfires on the flight eventually….and some surprises.

Interesting to compare with how Aeroplane dealt with the tragedy though.

I seem to recall that BD731 – the Spitfire Spares project, was reduced to produce, and no longer formally exists. I stand to be corrected.

Having browsed the website – much of what originally comprised the project is still available, so I guess if it were bought ‘en masse’ then you might still have a project!

    This one you mean?

Presumably that’s the ex-Duxford AAC1 in outside display with rapidly fading and peeling paintwork.

I’m guessing the engineless Caudron CR714 is on loan from the Finns – is that correct?

    Do they have a Battle???

They had a cmplete Battle and an extra fuselage didn’t they – the spare fuselage went to St Athan for the rebuild of the RAFM example. The more complete Blenheim went to East Fortune and the second one now forms the basis of the ARC Blenheim rebuilt after the Denham debacle. The Hurricane was lost in the CWH fire in Canada wasn’t it?and the Spits were ML407, MJ772, PV202 and NH904

Brian. IIRC neither incident was in areas frequented by the freeloading elite.

… However. perhaps the CAA needs to create a safety zone (ground exclusion zone similar to Notams) around airshow sites supported by legislation. CAA signs posted on field enhances with a laminated map may well be more persuasive than current methods.

At the Victory Show, some of the car parks are classified as “sterile”, presumably on the instructions of the CAA, and people are not allowed to enter them/return to their car for the duration of the display.
