Wonder why they don’t sell all the aircraft, install rollercoasters and roundabouts with an aviation theme and call it RAFMuseumland.
That should keep the new(ish) Director happy.
Hope to hell the struts are new build and the originals retained so that they can be reinstalled when there is somebody in charge at Hendon with a modicum of common-sense and respect for the past rather than chasing a fast buck.
Is there any correlation between the reduction in the number of news pages in FlyPast and Aeroplane and the slow demise of the forum?
It might be a free asset, but then so are all the other forums that I know of, so that is a somewhat specious argument.
I am sure that the old forum gave as much to Key, in terms of access to authors, experts, photographs, information, contacts etc as the members received in kind from the existence of the forum. It was very much a symbiotic relationship.
It was probably due to the “Vulcan effect” then
Can we assume traffic management will be streamlined? Seem to recall experiencing frustrating issues in the past.
If you pulled together all the Wellington parts scattered around the country, fuselage at Brooklands, wings at East Kirkby, tail at Moreton in the Marsh etc etc as a start, should be possible to build up another…..
Back to just two posts in 24 hours, so the changes have obviously made no difference….
Indeed I was….
It helps to have a well trained Peak District correspondent
Lancaster flew down the Derwent Dams again on Thursday. Think that’s twice in a fortnight.
Sad thing is that it is likely that many of the punters who will stay in the B&B are unlikely to know (or care) if it’s a Beverley or a Boeing 747
Used to be three posts in five minutes, now it’s three posts in twenty four hours…that’s the change
With the end of the Victory Show after next years event, it’s not a good time for airshows in the U.K. Sign of the times when there are so few comments on such significant news….
According to the latest Aeroplane, in addition to the complete Mosquito, there are the deteriorated remains of another Mosquito fuselage (NZ2345 /TE881) plus two further sets of nacelles with undercarriages etc. These have all gone to Avspecs for further projects
With that attitude from Key, and incidentally they don’t specify whether the growth has been negative or positive, I now see no point in ever returning to this forum.
The effective loss of this forum (in all but presence) has done immeasurable damage, both to Key’s reputation and also to the world of historic aviation, especially at a time when physical access to facilities has been stopped as a result of the Coronavirus.
Laurence, the thread was not reinstated. I started this new thread today. It will be interesting to see how long this new thread survives before it, too, is removed because it doesn’t sing to the Key song book
