Well the one thing that gives me doubts is the boldness of the PLAAF commander, they dont usually bost so much for sake of loosing face if it were not to happen. There must be something there to give it such confidence and making a JF-17 or J-10 wouldnt give an industry suddenly to say that it can make a F-22 beater if it did not have some backing from some place..
not unknown for countries to help others a bit under the radar.
There are just soo many few occurances in my life reading all these news that i have seen a Chinese comander to be so uber confident of a system that did not even exist. Mind you cant generalise.
It is possible they have some aircraft design already and a program going on but i feel part is propaganda, generals usually say we will but engineers are not so optimistic, a nation like Russia and the US have taken decades to build a fifth generation, so far China has not shown it has most of technologies, Russia has shown the Su-35BM with supercruise and super agility, the US showed the F-15 with TVC but in China`s case is only rethoric with almost no evidence.
In my opinion they are probably going to build the J-XX fighter for sure but it won`t be inducted as fast as the general says.
To me it sounds more like the Chinese do not want to be left behind since the PAK FA will fly soon and they need something to say we are not behind
Well here are some of the official/semi-official releases.
Here are three configurations – Link. The tri-plane config was said have been eliminated at an early stage.
Here are the image folders :
601-SAC –Link
611-CAC –Link
Eliminated –LinkIt is said that CAC was awarded the main contract, with SAC possibly playing a minor role.
I said this before, and I’ll sat it again, these may or may not represent the real thing. Only time will tell….
There is also a revised version of the JH-7A (dubbed JH-7B), with RCS reduction features as well as other changes. J-10, J-11 takes the headlines, but JH-7A is an important milestone since they can build every piece of it including the turbofan locally. Both PLA-AF, PLAN-AF operate them.
They look like studies rather than a definitive stealthy design, they do not show any planforming like the F-22, they are interesting though
Nice schemed Kazakh Mig 27 😎
Lovely aircraft
.. looks awfully familiar..
i like the design but i feel the canards are not stealthy at all it is a concept at best just a mix of features seen in the F-22 and F-35, it does not look real to me at all
If the USAF had something “ahead” of the F-22A, they wouldn’t have been trying to buy over 300 Raptors. Beginning to develop a follow-on now would be a smart move, because they could take a whole lot of time to do it and theoretically keep the costs down in 15-20 years when they have to build one. Besides, if there is a more advanced fighter in the USAF, it’s only going to be around in very small numbers, numbers which would make it basically irrelevant in a full-scale war against China or Russia (unlikely events though they may be).
And OF COURSE they’ll want to say its better than the F-22. If that’s not what they’re aiming for, then there isn’t really a point.
well of course is a guess, but since the F-22 program was killed, the F-35 seems to be less capable and China and Russia are developing fighters to be better than the F-22, the dilema can only have some simple answers
A) the american intelligence assesment is Russia is not building a fighter superior to the F-22 and China is in less advanced stages than the PAK FA so no need for additionl F-22 and its follow up replacement for at least a decade
B) they have something better or they will have something better in one decade. I mean they must have the technologies to develop the 6th generation fighter now.
C) or their economy does not allow them to build it like Russia was in the early 1990s that had the technologies but not the money.
It would matter for little in actual combat. 🙂 India’s two main weapons suppliers Israel and Russia are very reliable and will supply the IAF/IA even during wartime so I do not think China’s superiority in local manufacture will be that big a deal.
It is possible the Chinese will test flight a new fighter, but China is doing a lot of propaganda i guess to respond to the new PAK FA from Russia and India, real advanced fighters are always kept secret like the F-117.
The PAK FA is for export they have to make noise, but i guess the US must have something ahead of the F-22.
According to Chinese media, including official CCTV, the next generation fighter after J-10 will take maiden flight very soon.
Variant voice from different side of designers said that we are confident our new generation fighter will go ahead of the F-22 and it needs 10 years to surpass the F-22 to both.
A via commander also said 8-10 years should be waiting for entrance service of the new fighter.
everything is possible but the americans perhaps are working is something better than the F-22, in the same way the F-117 was designed, they are not going to wait and let the F-22 being surpassed.
