I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but I must say this. How come these riots were only located in England? Strangely less than 10 people in Wales were arrested for “inciting riotous behaviour”. I’m just curious as to anyone’s ideas on it, as it didn’t spread to Scotland as far as I know?
On the subject of respect I have several personal views. I’ve come across disrespectful people of all ages, and to be honest the worst have come from older generation. I have had verbal abuse from a disgruntled customer in work of around 50/60 who said vehemently that I had to give him a cash refun and not via card as he had paid…
Many times my own mother has expressed annoyance at people not saying thank you to me for holding doors open for numerous amounts, even in one go. Having grown older and wiser, I’ve now made my own motto. Show respect, and if the person does not reciprocate then treat them as you are being treated. It sometimes makes them step back a little.
Personally, as towards schools and teachers, you have two problems. Teacher’s can not do anything to miscreant children, by rules and regs (even health and safety) thier hands are very much tied. The other problem is that certain subjects are becoming irrelevant. I’ve always noticed (from a history stand point) that girls (as a majority) are far more interested in social history (which is becoming more substantiated in comprehensive schools) as opposed to boys who prefer the nitty gritty tanks, guns, technology etc. I know I prefered to learn about how fast a Hurricane and spitfire were to what Mr. Jones thought about the germans during 1940.
This is just an observation I’ve made from my time in education and let’s be honest by the time of A level College I was fed up to the back teeth of Nazis Germany :rolleyes:
