One or two have been cropped slightly to aid viewing and picture quality – although most were taken how you see them – just resized for viewing on the net.
Britannia – Yes thats the one – except mine has a slightly bigger lense on the front. Great Camera – the one true love of my life – Now I am just looking forward to airshow season.
Thank you for your kind comments guys…
Greekdude – Etihad is the latest Middle Eastern carrier flying from Dubai and owned mostly by the UAE government. London is currently its only European route and it only has around six aircraft at the moment – although it plans a fleet of 50 in the next few years.
Britannia – I use a Canon EOS-10D with 100-400 Lense which turns into 158-640 (approx) with that camera so it has a pretty awesome range.
Why where are they going to the scrapyard or something
I apologise for being so vague, but Mark L is spot on, I would think Boeing 737’s all variants probably only make up less than 10% of LHR’s movements now which is amazing when you once consider that nearly all European airlines operated either DC-9/MD-80s or Boeing 737s – Now just a small number operate the 737 – even fewer the MD-80/90. Plus the two busiest airlines into Heathrow BA and BMI (ahhh lovely colour scheme) both operate the A320 – so the Boeing 737 is dying out certainly in Europe.
Gratuitious BMI shot…

Looks like some real rarities there and not a million miles from Koksijde – can anyone confirm this for me?
EAL_KING
at heathrow id say it was the 777 i dont know
If only they were – I think it is probably Airbus A319/320/321 that are going to be the most common operated by every EU Carrier plus BA – Boeing 737s are on their way out and rapidly:D
I can’t share all my secrets – but okay – The ground shots were taken next to the aircraft level crossing where the fence is quite low, I am six foot tall and I can reach between the fence and barbed wire, plus I have 100-400 IS lense which turns into 150-640mm focal length so I am not within the airfield perimeter.
And if you did cut holes in the fence BAA would not be too happy, you’d probably be on a terrorist charge or something…
Thank you – everyone for your interest and kind comments, its the first website I have put together so it’s kind of satisfying that people are enjoying it. Anyway I have made a few changes but nothing too drastic – a new banner featuring a scene Heathrow – I thought it looked a bit better than a knackered out, old 737-200
Thanks again
Reading these comments about pieces falling off these delightful pieces of Russian enginneering we seem to be forgeting that it was a certain piece of metal which fell off an American operated and American built aircraft during take off and caused a particularly well-known Supersonic Aircraft to crash just outside Paris in 2000…
Thanks for all your kind comments,
Andrewm – Have to agree the Aeroflot Livery looks fabulous – its got to be expensive though – I personally cannot see them putting it on every aircraft – we will have to see.
I use the Canon EOS-10D with a 100-400 IS – It so heavy my left hand wanted to drop off by the end of the day.
A330Crazy – I saw P4-JLI parked on the South Side in the evening – to see one 727 is rare – but two. Reg on the 727 was N721MF I think
Thanks again…
I like that LN Strike Eagle, the red tint on all the pictures is really effective, I look forward to visiting more often.
Thank you wannabe pilot, I use a Canon EOS 10D took those pictures with 100-400 IS lense. First time I have used the lense on aircraft so I was pleased with the results.
This is probably my favourite warbird pic of 2003. Have always liked the Skyraider but never had the chance to see one close up so, that was nice.
Thank you Mr Kabir, and the rest of you for your kind comments. I use an EOS 10D with 75-300mm lens for those shots.
I am not sure why the Asiana B747 carries unicef markings, it wasn’t the only aircraft, I am pretty sure the JAL 747’s were carrying them too, probably to say they support them.
