Given that Concorde etc have gone into Airspace for “Winter Cover” surely the Victor and the Shackleton should be put in?
Quote from Septic,
I missed the Ray Hanna tribute by the side of 434, I hope Duxford will in someway pay tribute to this remarkable man.
I would hope we will see as many airworthy warbirds leading the tribute flypast with as many airworthy Gnats as possible leading the current Arrows
What do you guys think??
Tim
Well IWM’s website doesn’t mention anything so I cant see them putting any sort of tribute together? They may have been asked not too? or too busy with Airspace?
PS. The Tiger tank replica is posted here for all those movie fans who frequent the forum. As used in private Ryan.
🙂
There was nothing wrong with it !!
Its been nicked then! 😀
Cheers for the pics, how long until the HAC Hurricane gets her Merlin back?
Is probably having a well earnt overhaul after its trip to Malta! :p
Cheers Guys,
Bicester looks remarkably ‘preserved’ and authentic…great news its been listed
Ray Hanna best Spitfire Pilot by FAR!!!!!!! Anna
thing is i dont think you’ll have anyone argue with that, current Spitfire pilots included!
Seeing MH434, the Hanna legacy continues…
My son Andrew. Aged 21. Lost August 28th. While not a historic flyer, he got a love of aviation history from his Dad
Every bit valid here Dan, A Flyer all the same and the same passion we all have.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
1. Best Aviation Book of 2005 Fortress Malta
2. Best Aviation DVD of 2005 Flying Legends 05, many reasons but keeps me going through the long cold winter
3. Museum of the Year 2005 Malta Aviation Museum, first trip to an overseas museum
4. Most meritorious restoration (static) Probably too many to mention, anyone who puts in this level of commitment deserves a medal in my book! Have enjoyed the TSR2 pictures though
5. Ditto airworthy Ive enjoyed watching the Vacher Hurricane this year
6. Favourite airshow act Merlins Over Malta, at Luqa Airshow. Jsut brilliant and looking at the reaction of the locals and the veterans you know it ment so much to them
7. Airshow personality of the year Ray Hanna, not just for his passing but the only time ive gone to an airshow to watch one particular display…yes Biggin Hill!
8. Forum personality of the year Crumbs, place is full of them. Thank you to those who provide the awesome airshow photos
9. Best thread 2005 Ray Hanna, Ive never been tearful whilst reading a thread
10. Most anticipated show 2006 (not Legends) Oh…erm…Spitfire show at Duxford should be good! Pray for the weather

Malta was awesome, I’ll never forget it. Ray Hanna, I’ll never forget him
Thank you to all those who help keep these aeroplanes in the air and those who make these airshows happen. Looking forward to a safe 2006 🙂
Both great gentleman and I for one feel very fortunate to have met them but more so…see them fly!
To me all the Warbird pilots are Legends, people who are generally extremely modest yet are loved by thousands.
Of course Merlins over Malta was in… Malta… so if you don’t want Paris, you surely don’t want Malta…?
 Poetentially guilty of not making my point clear…The project was run from the UK though and featured ‘British’ based people and aeroplanes. Both aeroplanes do feature in the DVD.
Perhaps I ought to make me own DVD…..in the spirit of “What colours your Spitfire then!” 😀
Surely a DVD entitled British Airshows 2005 should be about airshows.
If it was called British Historic Aviation 2005 it would be a valid complaint – but it isn’t.
Point taken, in the DVD their is a rather good interview with a member of the team working on the restoration of the Blenheim. This is a nice behind the scenes look, surely a part of British Airshows? Its not just the physical display routine but a behind the scenes look would be good.
Thats good news then.
I just feel that the DVD should be a review of the years activities not just the airshow’s, maybe new restorations or particular success stories. For me Merlins Over Malta was a big thing to happen this year yet it gets no mention what so ever. These sort of stories deserve coverage.
Roll on 2006 🙂
