What is it with old Control Towers?

I find them amazingly fascinating yet i cant explain why?

I drive past Finmere and Bicester every day and cant help but look. Id love to get closer to the tower at Finmere but doesnt seem possible, as for Bicester how long till its houses?

I remember as a kid seeing F1-11’s (i think) use the base.

Wasn’t this one in AAM at one point? or am i getting confused.

I assume its ‘on-loan’ as opposed ‘sold’….Couldnt find any info on the IWM website…

I’d have Flying Legends. Any year’s (incident free) programme will do.

But I do think it’s getting time we had a Vietnam War slot with Huey’s and Spads. (Me? Suggesting an egg-beater? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! 😮 )

    Moggy

I’ll second that….every year is a superb tribute to all.

The film is a romantic portrayal, elements of ‘poetic license’ but a great film non the less!

A ‘then and now’ publication called Glenn Miller in Britain is an excellent read.

Funnily enough, I always thought that it was the German Army that brought it to Duxford.

I don’t recall OFMC ever operating helicopters.
