found a picture of it…

Interesting, I’d also wrongly assumed that ‘low-backs’ were XVI’s 😮 Ooops. Cant say I ‘d noticed the ‘Bulged cowling tops before’
Slightly off thread 😮 at Duxford, couple of years ago a Spitfire was on shown, Dark Green in ‘Czech’? markings? at a Spitfire Day? Does anyone have any information as to what the current status of this aeroplane is.
I seem to recall it had a serial similar to MH434? Something like MH435 or similar.
Cheers
🙂
Mishap? What mishap??
Indeed, Duxford Mafia at its finest….
Yes I noted that reaction too, A BBC News 24 presenter pointed out the fact that Biggin Hill had indeed been there for rarther longer than the housing estate and inferred the estate may not have been there at all were it not for the heroic actions of a certain band of aviators based there some 60 odd years ago… (nice one !) Hopefully by now Sky are no longer talking about a Cessna Learjet crash ??? I’d have thought they might have ‘clued’ themselves up a bit after their story on the Heathrow ‘Airbus 777’ incident in January ?
Sadly, hysterical journalism is one of the many scourges on modern society and may I pass on my condolences to those lost in today’s accident.
The Sky ‘Anchorman’ told viewers that they had got information on pilots from ‘Wikepedia’
Very sad indeed and so easily could have been worse.:(
Names are starting to be ‘announced’ by Sky
David Leslie BTCC driver, Richard Lloyd also worked in Motorsport.
Sky News sadly proding to get comment on ‘Safety’ of airport so near to residential area 😡 ‘Journalist’ and I use that phrase loosly said
“Biggin Hill has been here for 100 years and I am told played a part in both world wars”……..
Hi D-Day,
Thank you for your response. Not sure why I find the event so interesting. I guess that there was some sentiment towards the Battle of Britain, just 5 years after yet so many aircraft got scrapped at the end of the war and I often here that people had “had enough” by then… a feeling of apathy maybe?
Ashame that the only ‘Survivor’ was tortured by kids, quite sad. Any picture you can share would be most fascinating.
Beautiful footage!
Where is this bridge? I remember in a DVD Ray Hanna commenting about a few tree’s being loped, he describe the routine in a well, ‘routine’ manor. 😀
….. and take away the opportunity to put up a Gladiator two-ship at Legends?
True, thats what I’m thinking but I don’t know what the relationships are like behind the scenes between RIAT, TFC & Shuttleworth? Also would money talk?
I don’t know but I guess we’ll know more the nearer we get to the day!:o
Sorted my ticket for the Sunday event. It sounds like its going to be a very good day indeed. Looking forward to this
Could she do both?
I guess RIAT will be focusing on 90 years of the RAF so they will possibly be wanting more ‘historic/warbird’ types so maybe a ‘tug-of-war’ with regards the rare or one off types.
I wonder if Shuttleworths Gladiator will go with the Lysander, Do they have enough Ground Crew to manage 2 locations?
What a stunner. Congratulations and Thank you to all those involved with this project!
Thank you for the update and pics, make a great display with BM597 as they both carry similar schemes.
ah what nice pics of pl965
she has to be my fav spit
i dont know why maybe shes the first 1 have worked on/ been near to
she just looks like she belongs in the air
PL965 is a beauty, love the PR Spitfires. Would be nice to see more of her this year. I watched Peter Teichman fly the P40 at the Biggin Hill airshow and he flew a corking display, would be nice to see him do similar in this Spitfire!
My three favourite displays last year were Alistair Kay, Mustang Flying Legends, Peter Teichman P40 at Biggin Hill and John Romain Buchon at Duxford.
Is Peter Teichmans Mustang still painted as Jumpin Jaques?
I’m pleased that this is not a theft, mind you looking at the first photo you’d understand why you’d jump to that assumption.
I seem to remember an old tail about ass/u/me:rolleyes:
Cracking Kent Spitfire website, I think i might have to give this day a go….I got the Kent model which is very nice so can’t see much harm in spending a day with the real thing.
🙂 anyone else going?
Who did the flying sequence in the Spitfire, and which Spitfire was it? Just caught the end of it flying and didn’t get time to get a better look. Thanks
I watched it too! A beautiful piece of television. I too wondered which Spitfire, for some reason I thought it was MH434 but not sure why?
