Spitfire looks fantastic, thats going to be a hit with the kids too!!!
Is this the same Mr Denney of Merlins Over Malta fame?
Most sad indeed. I am suprised that taxying aircraft can get so close to the museum exhibits? It’s a difficult one to imagine, but then I am not a pilot.
My deepest sympathies to all those involved.:(
Alex,
Thank you and God Bless…
Yes Yes Yes and Yes….an epic Warbird adventure, great effort from just a small band of volunteers, the story, the veterans, the pilots and team were all brilliant.
I watched the aircraft arrive through the Grand Harbour and I have never seen a more emotional sight in my entire life.
During the airshow I had the pleasure of meeting the some of the Malta team, the project was 2 years in the planning and fund raising!
This video is well produced with some fantastic air to air pictures and music
10/10
I love the show (and watching the DVD’s in the winter, keeps you going till the summer:D )
I would go regardless of the participation list, I’d also pay just to see the Balbo.
For me the seemingly ‘miles and miles’ of VIP/GOLD/PLATINUM/SILVER ETC marquees is very off putting as they dominate the crowd line and you have to venture to the extreme ends of the crowd line to get a decent view, these areas tend to become crowded.
TV exposure and ‘non-aviation related’ targeted media would be a natural route to go down.
I think price wise it stands up but then again I only go on my own so I’,m not sure how ‘family friendly’ this event is.
Keep up the great work on the DVD’s too!
All of which apart from the Mark 24 are privately owned and could all fly away to new homes one day.
Yes I know all bar one is privatly owned but they are hardly gonna upsticks all at once 😀 Mind you, I guess stranger things have happened, with all the fuss about airworthy aircraft being kept with the static examples…..who knows…
🙂
The plastic Spitfire’s cost 20K . Reason for buying it – they wanted one and they are a lot cheaper than £1 million for a nice flying one . As for the costings – a 20K Spitfire replica hardly rates on the Richter scale compared to a 20 million plus hangar that looks like Wal-Mart!
They are hardly pushed for a Spitfire to show the public at Duxford, as for Wal-Mart, it will probably end up as one, one day:)
CONTROVERSIAL COMMENT :diablo:
mick
I have written to IWM to ask what sort of costs were involved in purchasing this plastic Spitfire and what the reasons were for it’s purchase…
I too feel that money should have been spent elsewhere.
Glad I just ordered my di-cast of it!
Peter
Can you elaborate? 😮
Indeed sad, however if the collection never changed over time I’m sure we’d all get bored, hopefully get to see her fly once more before she heads off….(naturally I am assuming that she is off)
TFC do a great job and I’m very much looking forward to seeing the Gladiator fly soon….well when it’s ready:p
Crikey! 😮
A serious reality check for those who think that these aeroplanes maintain themselves I think!!
Indeed!
Wonderful pics, thanks for posting
🙂 Mark
Israeli?
As unusual as the ‘Black’ TE199 scheme appears I just can’t see BBMF going for that.
Would be nice/different though:)
What ever the scheme I’m sure it will look stunning
Wow, boy do I miss the Brietlings….For me they were the greatest display team I had ever seen.
Some fantastic memories watching them, you’d pay to see them on their own!
Ashame Brietling switched to those god awful jets….Time to get a cuppa tea when they come on!
This thread is heading an an unpleasant direction and is totally way OT.
Honestly is anyone else excited by the fact the there is a FlugWerk 190 about to fly at Duxford, I know I am!
I agree, this is great news, someone on here must be able to tip us off as to when she will fly, special trip to DX I think is in order…:D
A superb DVD, In the spirit of all things OFMC can I recommend a visit to http://www.mh434.com They are great and good value too!
Interesting.
Is this ‘US Owner’ Tom Blair perhaps?
Cheers
Paul
Lets hope it’s not ‘locked up’ in the ARCO hanger….That would be worth a visit!!!:D
