The Swiss flight landed in MAN – the cause of the diversions was the EK A380 backtracking from the end of 23L. I got a fairly bad quality video of the EK landing on 23L
My sister has the pleasure of flying with Thomas Cook from Gatwick to Puerto Plata next month and she was telling me that her baggage allowance is a miserable 15kg. Is this now the ‘norm’ for charter airlines?
I’ve just got back from FUE with Thomas Cook, and the baggage allowance is 15kg per person, but you do have the option of booking an additional 5kg per passenger at an extra cost.
Thought it would’ve at least been Emirates or Qantas
The plane that did the tour of the North West is destined for Emirates eventually as A6-EDQ, but clearly, as they haven’t delivered the first A380 to Emirates yet, it’ll be a while before F-WWDD is painted and re-registered. I’d imagine the A380s that are in EK or QF livery are being tested in Toulouse, so it’d have to be one of the A380s which isn’t going to an airline anytime soon.
Great shots! Great to have it here on Merseyside, albeit briefly.
F-WWDD is destined to become A6-EDQ with Emirates.
It is an incredible machine, I watched the display at the Wirral Show and it was superb. Great shots too!
Ooh good, I can just walk down to the prom to see the A380 come along on Saturday, should be great, I can’t wait!
The long haul ones have seat back TVs, so you won’t get one.
Having had 5 flights on a 753 (3 on JMAA, 2 on -AB), I can tell you it is a very nice aircraft, and very long. Compared with a MON 320 (of which I’ve had 3 flights), the 753 would be the better option.
Nice report Jamz! That’s not nice having a 2 hour delay on the way home, leaving after 11, which was exactly the same for us last year at FUE when our TCX 752 was delayed, but you didn’t even get a MYT plane home. I’m not a fan as such of flying on foreign charter airlines, as in my experience, their English is not so good (Air Europa being the only exception), and therefore the service isn’t quite as good, but at least you had a nice time in, what is for me, the nicest of the Canary Islands.
Im Booked On TCX509K/L A320 To FUE In May 🙂
How Wierd,
The Delayed Flight By 18 Hours, Is TCX120K To PFO, i was going to book this flight with my uncle, on 25th!!! Good job i didnt!
It wasnt a B752 Btw, It was a 753, G-JMAA must have gone tech.
I Love FUE too!!!
We normally stay at Barcelo Club,
But this year, we have opted for Barcelo Thalasso Spa 🙂
Oh right, so it was -AA that went tech, and as it had to do the PFO flight, even though it was meant to be on our flight also, we got an upgrade, to the one aircraft type I’ve been desperate to fly! It was a good job my grandma had been booked on the morning flight (a 752) otherwise she’d have been in the airport at the same time as us which would have been weird!
Am I right in thinking the Barcelo Club is near the Broncemar Beach? The name seems vaguely familiar.
Nice report, but would be much easier to read if it was done in paragraphs. Gives me an insight as to what I will experience from TCX next month. 🙂
I must say that I it was quite difficult to read without paragraphs too, so I have edited it to make it easier to read.
You should enjoy TCX, and I’ve been on their 752s before and they were good, though we got one which had leather seats as it was a Canadian Affairs one, which will be different to what you should get.
Nice shots,
This report gave me an insight to what me and Adam will be experiencing this June!
A few pictures would definitely brighten the report up though!
Thanks! As I said, I don’t have a camera, mainly because being a student, I can’t really afford one atm, and my sister refused to give me hers to take shots, hence no photos at all.
If you are travelling on the A330-200, the seat pitch will be 33”, not the standard seat pitch I got, as they are changing next month.
I heard FirstChoice ordered. They used to be like golddust
First Choice ordered the Boeing 787 Dreamliner didn’t they?
I would imagine Qantas and Emirates will be next to collect their A380s, but after that it would possibly be Air France or Lufthansa.
I was surprised to see a FedEx plane in tonight as we taxied in. What days does this service operated?
I don’t know specific routes, but I think it’s fair to assume that it’ll be covering traditional charter routes to Spain, Cyprus, Canary Islands and Greek Islands.
