Isn’t one being used for the NCL services to CUN, SFB and Punta Cana?
I would imagine that a B767-300 is more likely. I don’t know whether G-BYAA and -AB have left the fleet, but I do believe they are destined for Silverjet when they do leave, if they haven’t already left.
Thomas Cook are the only UK airline to have the -300 variety (I’ve been on both and will be getting one again on Wednesday).
I imagine that when other UK airports do get sufficient space for the A380, it’d divert to LGW, STN or MAN.
It says on the ticket that it is a B753, and I’m going next week, which is still part of the winter season. I’m guaranteed a plane I’ve had before (I’ve had both -AA and -AB before) and I love the 753, so it should be good. I guessed it’d probably be a 753 by the timing of the flight, and the fact the turnaround in FUE is 1 hour 10 minutes (752s have a 1 hour turnaround).
I believe they’ll be on short haul routes this summer, which is fair enough as they’ll have 6/7 A330s covering the long haul programme for TCX, 2/3 of which will be at MAN (though TCCA did cover the MAN-SFB route for MYT yesterday).
I have just returned from LHR – the aircraft was, as indicated a Boeing 777.
Police there told me that the aircraft lost power to both engines about 2 miles out from the airport and glided in the rest of the way – narrowly missing the 27l landing lights. The aircraft has lost the front gear and one of its main gears as well as at least one of the engines.
I have photos from the incident which i took whilst there – to be posted soon.
That does sound very serious, and possibly a WFU for that 777, which would be a real shame, but as other people have said, it could have been much worse than what has actually happened.
And I think they’re going to be replaced with A321s (they have some more on the way), rather than 757s.
I’ve been thinking it was only a matter of time before EZY opened a MAN base, and when they took over GB Airways, I thought that’d leave them open to opening the base at MAN, and this only confirms my suspicions. It’s good that they’re opening other routes at MAN, so they’re not directly competing with EZY at LPL.
Nice pics Lance! Is that Turkish 330 a regular, or was it replacing a smaller type on that flight?
Some nice shots there Grey, the CX Cargo is my favourite…good comparison of size against the biz-jet in the foreground!
That Binter Canarias 737 looks nice as well, but what was it doing at MAN, do they operate to/from the UK now?
No, Binter Canarias still operate flights between the islands solely, but the 737 is used by Futura (I think) on a Saturday flight, from LPA I think. The rest of the week, it is also used on inter island flights.
Btw, nice shots Lance, I like the MON and CX ones best.
Makes sense to get rid of the older 733/735 famliy replacing them with the A320 while they get knew a/c
But surely it would be better for TUI to get rid of the A320s rather than the 737s in order to maintain some sort of fleet commonality before the 73Gs arrive.
I got a B in Law, C in English Language, and Ds in Business Studies and General Studies. The combined total is enough to get me into Bangor which was my first choice university.

G-TCBA seems to be effectively permanently based at EMA, so there isn’t much chance of you getting it. I think it occasionally goes to other bases, but all the photos on the net seem to have it either at EMA, or operating a holiday flight to/from EMA.
No 321s are based at MAN. As far as I’m aware, it’s 2 A320s, 5 or 6 757s and 2 767s.
