Agreed, and didn’t you notice that the sun always shone, it was always the place to get the first suntan of the year, apart from the last event where the weather was pretty grim but it didn’t stop anything from flying, the B-2 taking off in the rain was pretty awesome and the crowd line was empty, everyone was under shelters stuffing themselves with burgers and Bud.
We took a windbreak and groundsheet and were very dry and comfy, apart from having to run over to the barbie to stock up. In fact, in my visits there going back nearly 30 years that was the only time I recall the weather being crap, the hottest day I remember was when the Thunderbirds performed about 10 years ago, a memorable day as it was my missus’s first airshow, she was in raptures at the number of display teams on that day, if I can remember was it not Thunderbirds, Patrouille de France, Frecces, Suisse and the Reds all in one show, this thread has made me want to dig out me videos, but I’ve got to carry on tiling the kitchen.
C’mon American pals, please start it again next year, we all miss it so much, we promise to be vigilant.
That year was 1997, The best one of the last Mildenhall shows!

😀 and your order was always followed by “Is that a wet burger or a dry burger sir?”
Mine was always wet ( never did find out the name of the sauce ),accompanied by a tin of Bud that you knew was brewed Stateside 😉
The name of that sauce is ‘Hunt’s BBQ Sauce, Original Recipie’
Unfortunately it’s not available in the UK shops, but luckily for me I have relitaves in the US who keep me supplied with the stuff.
Maybe one of the US owners could bring one over here in the future, for a UK airshow tour?
Flying Legends 2005/6?……( Wishful Thinking )

Thanks for the Info.
If only we could see a P-38 in UK skies again, I think the chances of that happening are quite slim. I dont even think we have any over here on static display either?
TB
With the P-39Q as the latest aircraft to join the TFC & plenty more on the TFC list of restorations, I am wondering wether TFC aquired, or are going to aquire the white P38 Lightning from the USA, as reported in Flypast mag a few months ago.
I have not seen or heard any more about it, but would love to see the type in the UK again.
Anyone have any info on this?

The P-39Q is a superb addition to the TFC collection & it certainly gets the thumbs up from me.
If only the TFCs P-63 Kingcobra was still here aswell. Although it’s loss was horrific & very sad, I could’nt help but think of what it would have been like to have seen the two types flying together.

Excellent show, Favorite display was Tigercat & Hellcat, awesome! As usual with Legends there was so much going on in the air that you did’nt know which way to look.
Parking was also A1 (right behind HP Hastings). It’s just a shame the sun never broke through.
Just had to change my route home though after seeing the traffic jam on the south bound M11, anyone know what the problem was?
TB
parking was easy i arrived at about 11
Thats ok then, as I’m coming from the Colchester area aswell & aim to get there for 8am..ish so I should be ok to get a decent parking slot.
Whats the new stretch of the A120 like?

Parking
Sounds like an excellent show.
My turn tomorrow, how can I sleep?
Re Parking:
I will be approaching Duxford from Jct 10 of the M11 & am wondering if I will be able to get into the west car park from this direction, or is the west car park for traffic coming from Royston only?
I am trying to avoid getting stuffed in the north car park, is this an overflow for when the airfield parking is full?
Will I need to go via Royston for the west car park?
Cheers
