Russian fifth-generation fighter
New missile for Russian fifth-generation fighter to be developed by 2016
The Radio Electronic Technologies concern provided the Prospective Airborne Complex of Frontline Aviation (PAC FA) T-50 with the first batch of Himalayas electronic warfare systems.
“We are currently testing it,” General Director Nikolay Kolesov told TASS.
“T-50 prototypes are already equipped with the Himalayas onboard defense system. The system is used in plane tests. The unique air system increases fighter jet’s jamming resistance and damage tolerance, as well as neutralizes enemy’s signature control systems. It also helps decrease aggregate weight of the PAC FA.

The real shame is the AN-70 IMO.Big numbers on order, export potential being superior in its class.I hope it will be revived
on the naval attack, they’re saying on the radio that the ships were attacked by aircraft, and it would seem like that on the video starting at 1:00
any idea what aircraft those where?
Rebels claimed it was artillery fire coming from Ukraine coast.
Sorry, couldn’t resist: You mean something like a J-31 with a decent engine !!! :highly_amused:
Exactly!Right on the money
At this point flanker negotiations are just rumours. Much more likely are anywhere between 40-200 helicopters.
From what i understand, (and this is my speculation) a historic deal between Pakistan and Russia is being made, and its starting with a big arms deal that includes Mi-17s, Mi-35s, SAM systems, and a myriad of other smaller items. Russian weapons probably suit Pakistani requirements much better than American – reasonably priced, rugged, effective.
PS: the really interesting part is that a PAF officer went to Russia for very successful talks on “air defence” matters. Mi35s and assault helis are operated by the PA not PAF. And have little to do with air defence. Munir, a longtime forumer with a track record of getting his insider info right notes tantalizingly that he cannot say anything but he is shocked at what is being discussed between Russia anf Pakistan and it is beyond anything he had imagined.
THE Mi35 deal has been confirmed by both the Russian and Pakistani sides so its not just a rumour. The Russian justification of the deal would be that Pakistan needs the helos to fight the Taliban and present no threat to India. As for Russia selling SAM to Pakistan i remain highly sceptical as these are of no use against terrorists and but useful against IAF.An Su35 deal is a non-starter as far as India is concerned i would think and as Deino said budget wise there is simply no money for that
@Twiblade -very nice photos sir.More of that please.
@TR1 good pictures man of one of my favourates in the making
Britain now has the largest helicopter force in Europe thanks to the RAFs 14 new Chinooks.
Europe stretches all the way to the Urals. So which is it to be largest or second largest?Just joking i know what you mean by “Europe”.
I wish Iraq had Su34 with guided rockets more than anything else right now to deal with the senseless murderous.
Are there any Mi 28NE actually in Iraq?I dont think so but if anyone can prove otherwise its all good.
ISIS has just released a series of videos today but i am not sure about posting links to the videos which btw happen to be more “mild” compared to the one hour long “The Clanging of the Swords IV” video from few weeks ago. This topic should be in general discussion forum.
Any pictures of the just delivered Su34?

Russia has lifted its embargo on arms supplies to Pakistan and is holding talks on supplying Islamabad with combat helicopters, the head of state-owned Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, said Monday, the ITAR-TASS news agency reported.
“Such a decision has been taken. We are holding talks on supplying the helicopters,” Chemezov said, adding that the negotiations were about Russian Mi-35 Hind attack helicopters.http://www.defensenews.com/article/20140602/DEFREG01/306020018/Report-Russia-Lifts-Arms-Embargo-Pakistan
So we should regard the present 117 engine as the standard powerplant? The T-50 will have essentially the same engine, or a variant, as the Su35S? So the Type 30 is for the very distant future?
The quote posted by Austin is about a year old and talks about the 117 which is a further improvement of the 117S engine on the Su35S which is based on the AL31 core. The type 30 engine Jo referred to is based on new technology. We have been through all this in the previous thread.
So the time frame for the assembly of the type 30 engine has been pushed back by a year is that right?
