Russia completes Mi-8AMTSh-V helicopter upgrades with domestic equipment
The entire fleet of Mi-8AMTSh-V helicopters are now fitted with the latest Russian-made equipment, including VK-2500-03 engines produced by United Engine Corporation’s Klimov.
Upgrades made to the helicopters include replacing the Ukrainian-made AI-9V auxiliary power units (APUs) with the Russian-made TA-14 from SPE Aerosila and an on-board satellite navigation suite which is compatible with Russia’s GLONASS and GPS. They also feature Russian weather radar systems offering a 3D image of weather formations and objects.
Well spotted! Actually, apart from Red 19 “Valentin Bliznyuk”, there is also “Boris Veremej” with the same sensors. That aircraft used to have the number 342 and was used as Tu-160SK, under the “Burlak” progamme. I suppose those sensors are related to Burlak then? In any case they are not “new”.
Tu-160 with extra sensors
I found this picture of Tu-160 “Red 19” on MP.net, fitted with “new sensors” on the underside of the air intakes, and on the rear lower fuselage. Could it be that this particular aircraft was used to develop the Tu-160R (or another specialised version) that in the end never entered service?
During the military parade on Saturday July 27th 2013, the KPA’s MD 500s were shown in public for the first time. Some of the helos were fitted with AT-3 Sagger ATGM. Also one Mi-26 participated in the parade.
It is much better than nothing at all. Prove the information therein wrong, and change it. That’s the cool thing about Wikipedia.
x1000. I’m getting realy tired of this Wikipedia bashing. The same time it takes to write a bad comment about Wiki could be used to improve the article.
The Mi-26T has one function – go to A, lift the cargo, deliver to B, drop. Exactly what avionics do you really need for that?
I don’t know but I suppose there must be a reason since the A and M models got new avionics. 😎
Nobody is comparing the Mi-26 to a Western design. I just find it odd that -apparently- the 30-year-old model was ordered instead of a more modern version with more modern avionics etc., Mi-26A, Mi-26M or whatever.
Mi-26T is for the civilian and export market, right? The latest batch for the Russian VVS doesn’t seem to be a later model such as the Mi-26M (was it ever build?) but I can’t believe that they get the same model that entered service now 30 years ago.
Are any of the Su-25’s operational?
What makes you think they are not??
So not even Mi-26M or Mi-26A? That seems odd.

Another Mi-26 for the RuAF takes flight.
Are those helos from the latest order simply Mi-26s? Or Mi-26T/T2?
I’m struggling with finding decent photos of the Su-30SM. From what I can make out it has thrust vectoring, but no canards?
The first two have been delivered to the VVS yesterday.

I’m confused by the number 30 that is mentioned as being ordered. Weren’t there 40 (28+12) ordered?
Uzbekistan
Mi-24V of Uzbekistan
Malinese Mi-24s appear to have been delivered without the ATGM system.
