Smashing photos and thanks for sharing. I really must go soon.
But great in the hover
Thanks for compensating amnesia!
[QUOTE=8674planes;2240879]Heres a few pilots that I can remember and the aircraft they flew
Many thanks for providing these, I only managed to note half a dozen or so and I clearly need to improve my memory.
[QUOTE=DCW;2188844]Duxford Friday 12th December:
“Next September’s air display, the Battle Of Britain Anniversary Air Show has been confirmed as being on Sep 19th/20th (a week after the provisional dates). Presumably to avoid a clash with the Goodwood Revival and allow booking of all the Spitfires, Hurricanes and Messerschmitts. I believe this may be a ticket-only event. Bookings start mid-January (as well as the May VE-Day event).
Legends tickets are already available on-line.”
Thanks for the update DCW, so it appears that we are getting an autumn airshow; by stealth! 🙂
Thanks very much for posting this, I really enjoy these insights. The part where he insisted he called Ray Hanna back was very special.
They are lovely shots of the Blenheim, thank you Pen Pusher.
I had missed the news of her getting airborne so when I browsed to these pictures; I welled up good and proper 🙂
Hello all,
We’ll another superb two days and we were fairly fortunate today, unless wearing denim!
I think it is best not to reopen the pro’s and con’s of commentators suffice to say I enjoyed Trevor and Pete. One minor gripe is that again they didn’t give the name of most pilots. Perhaps this is deliberate I which case ignore this request but if anybody has any details or link I would really appreciate the insight.
Many thanks
I’d like to add the two gladiators caused me to grin like an idiot…
Anyway if any one has a record of the pilots it would be much appreciated. The commentary slipped up on this on a quite few occasions and I feel it should always be recognised whose finely honed skills are getting the best from the wonderful aircraft.
Great Photos Neilly,
Thanks for posting although it makes me wish even more that I had gone! It would be fantastic to see the Firefly as well as the Mossie. Out of interest do you know who flew the latter?
Paul
On Saturday and Sunday it was Ed Shipley in the P-51C and Dan Friedkin in the Spitfire, however they swapped over today.
Words can hardly describe some of the flying I’ve seen over the past few days at Duxford, my hat goes off to all! Simply superb.
I recognise I am a little late in adding these comments but having experienced the fabulous airshow on Sunday I wanted to build on that above. There were many highlights (the Buchon’s low passes being one in particular) but I felt the need to make mention of when the Eagle Squadron broke into pairs. I felt the close formation they were both flying was superb. What left me open mouthed was the pair of the P51 and P47, they were extremely tight and kept fixed distance even through a loop. This can’t be easy, which I accept is an understatement, for aircraft of differing characteristics and to me demonstrated true mastery of this craft, ok art. Thanks to those pilots who have provided me with memories that will linger for a long time.
I couldn’t agree more with the previous comment that this makes the perfect Sunday browsing. Blackbushe was the local airfield where my aircraft mad Father (no guesses where I get it from) would take me. At the time I was just as obsessed with getting him to buy me a mars bar, not appreciating the treasures on show as an under 10!
Thanks so much for providing this link and it has stirred many great memories. Now I really need to dig out that slide I have of me standing in front of one of the Sea Fury’s!

Alan,
What a treat these photos are, I really enjoyed your airshow photos and these had some cracking aircraft in them. There can’t be too many radial engined Hawker Hart examples around and the Fiat CR42 was a joy. It is also good as I have always had a thing for the Swedish AF schemes so my fix is satisfied for a while. With your helpful suggestions a three day trip needs to be added to my plans!
Thanks again.
Paul
Alan,
This is a fabulous collection of photos and especially the historic types. I don’t think I ever got to see RW386 while she was over here (UK) and she looks in great condition. It is lovely to see the B17 and enjoyed her (two?) trips to FL’s.
The last couple of shots of the Pembroke were a pleasure to see how this aircraft is put to good use in civilian hands. Lastly there was the enticing sight of a Skyraider which looked one of the more unusual ‘marks’ or modifications. Hopefully she will be rebuilt, even as static it would be interesting to see her complete and in original markings.
Was this a one off trip to the airshow? it feels like (based on the quality of display items) one that you would recommend if there are more planned.
Thanks for sharing.
Paul
Hello Neilly,
It’s a possible at the moment but I wouldn’t rate the chances as much higher than about 20%. We have friends who live nearby now and one half of this lovely couple is itching for me to come and drag him (not surprisingly) to an airshow.
I really need to see a mosquito again, but also the Lanc and hopefully the former TFC ‘Tin-opener’.
I am very bad at going to airshows and not taking the opportunity of meeting up with yourselves. I intend to make amends for this and I’ll keep you posted if plans look like developing.

This is certainly an announcement that has pleased me immensely and BHHH should be applauded, I’ll certainly be doing so when I go on the 17th . If any of you have not done so I would thoroughly recommend subscribing to their Facebook ‘page’ (probably wrong term but you know what I mean). In their relatively short time of existence all at BHHH have come across as very open in sharing information on their work and wonderful aircraft for which they have my thanks.
In terms of an event at Biggin Hill then hopefully it is a case of ‘from little acorns…’ 🙂
The only problem I have not is that I have to fit this in and a visit to Beachy Head. After last years shots (especially of XH558) I have to witness it myself. As people point out to me though; it’s not a bad problem to have.
