I like the part of the Chinese Bears and Backfires, but i heard somplace he got into photoshop and started making pics of some of these aircraft in Chinese markings.Haven’t seen any myself, but according to what I heard ,the Chinese are flying Tu-160 Blackjacks .
I wonder how long it will be until they’re complaining over the NH-90s and Tigres? As it stands,it would appear that the Australian MOD has been regretting many of their more recent buys.As far as the E-737 goes, most good systems need time to mature, and I’m sure it’ll be a good platform.IIRC,Australia was also offered an AEW model of the Airbus with a conventional radome.
Well, looks like they should have either gone the way of the E-2D Hawkeye 2000 or maybe something along the lines of the AEW&C models of the P-3 or C-130J.Too bad though really, since the E-737 made a nice medium sized compromise between the small E-2C/D and the larger E-767.
Both Helicopters are taken at Varadero in April 1997.
Hey,just wondering, but that Haze looks like it its armed with something, maybe rocket pods.Looks like it has outriggers, like the Mi-8/-17 Hip attached to the side.I’d heard some Russian Hazes were modified like this to carry AS-7 Kerry missiles in the antiship role.
So then this was purely for test and evlauation then? I know during the “tanker war”,the Exocet was the primary Iraqi antiship missile and was carried by the SA-321G Super Frelon,Super Etendard and later, the Mirage F-1EQ-6.I’m wondering how the Mig-23ML would have compared to these platforms.Obviously,it would have been faster then the Super Etendard, but comparing it to the Mirage would probbley be harder. Also, didn’t Iraq modify its Mirages,I believe the EQ-6 model to carry Russian weapons?

Heres what I found:”Many P-3A and P-3B Orions saw action during the Vietnam War. They were used to monitor shipping around the North Vietnamese coast. P-3s played a major role in “Operation Market Time”.I would assume in this role they at first complamented the P-2 Neptunes and P-5 Marlins and eventually replaced both types.Early models were also used to monitor Soviet ships during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
In a word,no.
I remember seeing the German Tu-154 here at Wright-Patt flying around some years ago,and when I first saw it,assumed it was a C-22(the AF model of the 727).I’ve also seen the OC-135 here close up when I was on guard duty the day they named the Spirit of Ohio B-2.
What about the Mi-22 Hook and Mi-27 Halo airborne command post models, anyone have oics of these? Also, wasn’t there an ASW model of the Halo? I know it sounds crazy, but I think I may have a small pic of it.
The A-37 was a interesting little plane.Oh,and Phantom II,the Ecuador models can carry the Israeli Shafir missile.Ironically the name Shafir means Dragonfly too.I also heard something awhile back maybe some one can confirm or set straight.I heard during Operation Just Cause in Panama, the OA-37s were used as medivac planes. Now I was assuming what was ment was they cordnated the medivac planes to come in to pick up the wounded, not fly them out themselves. Also,I always found it interesting how the Dragonfly was sold to Asian/Latin American markets while its cousin from across the pond, the Strikemaster was sold to Middle Eastern/African customers.
I got to see the Hanoi Taxi make her final flight from work last Saturday. As far as civilian C-141s,that would be nice, but I doubt it for 2 reasons.First, most -141s sent to the desert were chopped up and also,Boeing was marketing a civilian C-17 known as the MD-17 and now as I think the BC-17.Anyway,if I was in the freight buisness like FedEx or UPS,I’d try to go with the newer aircraft.Plus Civilian models of US military transports don’t usually sell too well, look at the L-100 Hercules. Most of its operators are military or goverment agencies. The exception to this rule is the Russian IL-76 or An-12
Here you guys go,what the Mexican Flankers will probbley look like.Just finished it.Sorry about the size, photobucket resized it.Get a general idea of the markings/camo.
I believe the Czech Rep. retired their Frogfoots, however,Slovakia still operates them last I heard.
I always loved the bounder as well. Also love the Ye-8 looks almost like the Eurofighter in some ways.Too bad a production model never came about.
