They bought a model like the RAF’s GR.Mk1A that is used as a recon platform. They have the same camera/IR linescan windows as the GR.Mk1A and I believe they can carry the Alarm ARM as well.

I’m sure I wouldn’t be the only one here who would love to see the Tomcat slaughter some Subpar Hornets in combat.Politics aside, the F-14A would be a serious threat to any non stealth aircraft. The F-16 would be a problem close in,but thats assuming the lawn dart made it that far.The Phoenix would also more then likely be used against high value targets as was the cae in the Iran-Iraq war when it was used against Tu-22 Blinders. In this case the targets would be USAF E-3 AWACS,E-8 J-Stars and Navy E-2Cs.Also the F-14/Phoenix combo would be the front line of defence against USAF bombers such as the B-52 and also the B-1B.The B-1 has better ECM,but also it has a tendency to not the most reliable system either. Then theres the whole public opinion of the war. Most of America is against the war in Iraq, and attacking Iran wouldn’t go over much better, but if a national asset such as an E-3 Sentry or a B-1B was shot down, its easy to see the possible repercutions. The fact is though that 1.Iran’s Tomcats and crews are combat tested against one of the best air forces in the area.2.Iran was able to reverse engineer the parts to keep the F-14s combat ready,so it must be assumed they can or have made local AIM-54s as well. And 3.Iran’s Air Force is highly trained and their moral is good, unlike Iraq’s AF during Desert Storm. They would put up a fight, rather then try to make a run for it.

I used to think Katie Holmes was cute,I think I was a freshmen in high school then.Besides, everyone knows Kate Winslet is a babe.I loved her with that blue hair in “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.She was also the reason I finally gave in and watched “Titanic”.

At one point they tried putting AIM-7 Sparrows and AIM-9 Sidewinders on the SH-2 Seasprite LAMPS for trials in air defense for its parent ship.Needless to say, this was never used routinely.

Wasn’t Taiwan supposed to get some P-3 Orions and some MH-53E Sea Dragons,or did that deal fall through like some of the others?

I would have kept some of the Ex Warsaw Pact equipment, such as the Mig-29s,Su-25s and Mi-24s and equip them with western avionics and weapons.I’d replace the older Mig-21s with Mirage 2000s and try to get some F-5Es to replace the Mig-23s.If nothing else, see about buying some of the F-16As being produced in Europe. These would be good for air defense and battlefield close air support, along with the Su-25s.The Tornado would have been nice to have too,to take out the runways and hit the rear areas.

Russia at one time was planning on a model of the Tu-204 airliner as their new ASW platform to replace their Tu-142 Bears and IL-38 Mays. This seems like a good aircraft, but I kinda liked the Beriev A-40 better and this itself may get little or no funding like the A-40.

The Saudis bought some IRBMs from China,I’m not sure of the type, but I know that they are fitted with HE warheads and deployed in silos.Other then that, thats the only case of Saudi Arabia buying anything from China that I know of.I assume in this case,it was more likely that this was the only country that would supply these types of weapons to Saudi Arabia.

I’d say the idea of Saudi F-16s are done. The rumors of Saudi Arabia buying about 80-100 F-16s to replace their F-5Es have been floating around for years, along with rumors of a Hawk Mk.200 buy.The current British goverment, being a huge US ally, and in the face of the London Bombings,I highly doubt a sale of EF-2000 Typhoons, and as BAe is company of the multi national group to handle middle east sales.I’d say if anything the Rafale will be it.Dassault tried to sell the Super Mirage 4000 to Saudi Arabia so the selection of the Rafale would make sense. The only reason the Super Mirage 4000 wasn’t selected was the supply of American F-15s and British Tornado ADVs.Now,without those two suppliers, they may turn to France to meet their arms needs.

My vote is for the most simple “vanilla” fighter of them all,the F-5

I read somewhere a long time ago,and this is probbley pure fantasy, but it involved the Israeli F-4Es having canards, like the Fly By Wire testbed YF-4E.I’m sure if they would have done that,it would have been an amazing aircraft, even more so if it were a Super Phantom with canards. The carrier based F-4E,I’ve thought about that myself.I heard the F-4S was like the Navy model of the F-4E with slatted wings, but like all the others before it,it also lacked the internal gun.
