Apart from the sale of the NZ Hurricane any clue regarding the sale of the exTFC/HFC hurricane?
Hi all, Mr Black says yes it’s up for sale. At the right price though !!!
Steve
HAC News page: “We have decided to put up for sale our Hurricane (G-HURI), as a precursor to the arrival of our original Hawker Fury which is due to fly this Summer”
To be honest, I’m too busy salivating over the prospect of the Fury to be all that saddened by the sale of the Hurricane. Think of the formation possibilities! How about a seven-ship 1930’s formation: Fury/Gladiator/Gladiator/Hind/Demon/Nimrod I/Nimrod II?
Earlier posts have hit the nail on the head: we do have quite a few Hurricanes, and I for one am all up for increasing the variety of types to see in the air. That said, the HAC Hurricane is a particularly fine one, and it will be sad to see it go if it does get sold. The sight of a three-ship “vic” of Hurricanes at Legends was pretty special…
Hi all, it’s a particularly fine Hurricane now that HAC have spent a fortune on her.

So if it’s found how long before we see parts from this one on ebay Gareth?
Hi all, I spoke to Steve Vizard today & there is a chance that it will not see the light of day again because of a concrete apron/taxi way.
Steve
Hmm. If that’s the case, then SM520/G-ILDA should have the same description, but doesn’t.
Hi all SM520 was converted to aT9 in 2003 .
Steve
Having checked back the part has 30008 stamped on it so Spitfire wing rather than Hurricane (should have read the email which came with the photos properly). Have never seen anything like it though. Spot welding wasn’t a popular wartime assembly technique but most of the back end of Corsairs used it.
Hi Ian, lots of spitfire top hat stiffeners in the fuselage were spot welded in place in the ’40s, particularly in the cockpit area. The item in the picture looks like it has lugs with holes in as if it was wired in place. Similar in shape to the cover plates that go over the tie down points, but maybe someone has the right answer.
Steve.
I understand this awesome aircraft is now in her new colours!
Does anyone have any snips to share?

Hi all, I was at HFL last week doing some bits on the MKI and had a sneeky preview of the colour scheme. Looking good !!
Steve
Yes Mark I’d heard the same! Only it was 2 months !
Steve ‘P’
Thanks for That Mark12. Thats good news !Hopefully she may be part of the flight flying over the Isle of Wight next Tuesday ! That really has been a long term project for Martin !
Steve”P”
Thanks for that Andy. I was at Sandown Airfield on the Isle of Wight last Sunday when some of this was being filmed. Mary Ellis, Joy Lofthouse and Molly Rose were there as was Sm520 from Goodwood. Mary was then taken aloft in the rear seat.

jack…
I also saw this Spitfire tonight flying over Arreton Down at about the same time Jack ! I would say that it was SM520.

Hope this bird goes for top money today. Doesnt want to be less than £2.500.000. I’m sure there are lots of people out there with money burning a hole in their pockets !! Spend £2.000.000 on a ferrari FXX and you dont even own it and you cant take it home, Ferrari keep it locked up for you and take it to a track so you can use it then take it back again !! and you have only got it for 2 years !!

I believe Chris Norris has left Hangar 11 there by creating this vacancy !!
Steve”P”
Jack Windsor, you could have a look at our facebook page for more info. Sorry you were disappointed, but i would say that we finish work at 2pm-ish on friday so may be worth a look down then !!
