In terms of production methods the Hurricane has to be one of the least complicated build jobs in the British aircraft manufacturing industry of the time

Hi, if you want complicated just compare a Spitfire rudder or elevator with that from a ME 109. God, all those pieces !! what was Reg thinking about ?!!

    RW386, surely?

I also distinctly recall reading that ‘382 is to be rebuilt as a high-back….

I think Bruce meant RW 382, i know what he was getting at !!

Jonathan Whaley was the driver according to YoofTube

Didnt look like Jonathon Whaley !! Yes Tony AA worked on the wings. We removed the tanks. She was built as a low back & should have been left that way. Not enough low backs flying !!!

    Cheers

Well done to Tom & the team at PPS. Guess the owner will be glad he’s at last got 1 spit airworthy.

Hi all, i can only think of 1 T9 being built/restored at the present time & there are no shares for sale in that. £575 would just about pay for the fuel !!!

That’s a bold statement. You’re forgetting the huge effort of Russ Snadden and his crew who worked X-amount of years on Black 6, plus the smaller band of restorers who’ve put Buchons back into the air.

Unless you mean “ground-up” rebuilds, of course…

Daz i really only meant ground up rebuilds. Didnt include Buchons cos they’ve got merlins at the sharp end & forgot about black 6. Shame it was grounded !!

    Here they are:

Hi all, where on the above web site is there a wing? I cant see one!! Looks like they have invested heavily in tooling. The engine block in the cradle, is that a 601 or a 605 ? So far the only person to put restored 109’s back in the air is Craig Charlston in association with Airframe Assemblies.

What’s with the wing? The wingskins seem to be draped over the spar like cloth:confused:

Hi Fouga they look like that because plane hit the ground at quite some speed !!!

Cheers Steve that is very helpful and will help me no end, many many thanx. I have the internal paints, it is the external camo etc I require.
Just to clarify, are the tops of frames 12, 13 mush too?

AVI, thanx for the website details
    Thanx again
    Tony

Hi Tony, yes the tops of all Frames from 12 to 19 are mush-heads, likewise the bottoms as well. The PRXI we did for HFL had a very similar rivet pattern being based on an early MKIX fuselage. We dont apply any external paint other than etch prime & green & yellow primer so cant help you with camo paint. Some one like rhoobarb or Fluffy on this site may have the ans to that.
