Yup. searched them. No luck. But, I think I’ll drop amazon an e-mail.

It was definitely on Discovery Wings. Unfortunately, Discovery Wings has been replaced by Military Channel in the US and Discovery Turbo in the UK. Small clip I uploaded to YouTube was from Extreme Machines, but thats all I could find from that series.

I’ll keep checking ebay for you. I know I saw some of the Extreme Machines on Amazon, used on VHS, but they did not give much of a description of what was on them.
    Here are a couple:

    http://www.amazon.com/Extreme-Machines-Flight-Power-Weapons/dp/1575236885/ref=sr_1_3/102-8391471-9352933?ie=UTF8&s=video&qid=1174653862&sr=1-3

    http://www.amazon.com/Extreme-Machines-Vol-Superplanes-Spaceplanes/dp/B000BSYW64/ref=sr_1_6/102-8391471-9352933?ie=UTF8&s=video&qid=1174653862&sr=1-6

Not sure what exactly is on them, but a start, perhaps. I know I bought the Discovery DVD on the F-117 off of Ebay a few years ago for $1 + shipping, so it may just be a matter of setting up a favorite search on ebay to alert you when an episode of Extreme Machines is listed.

Have you tried searching for the name of the VHS/DVD it was on, and checking ebay/amazon for a copy? Just a thought.

Did some searching, may be from “Extreme Machines”, perhaps? Amazon shows some VHSs from the late 90s/early 2000s, but not much on detail. Let me look for it when I get home, maybe I can snag a copy on the cheap here in the USA. I can’t access Ebay here at work.

There is a pretty complete B-24 here in a lake in North Carolina. Pilot was ferrying the bomber, flew over the lake where his sweetie was sunbathing, dipped the wing to wave, and put the bomber in the drink. They won’t let them recover it, tho.

I see waterways that could be considered rivers, even if not called that. The pedantry of this board gets worse by the day.

If the UK did not want her, I’d love to see her moored next to USS Intrepid, as that is trhe last place I saw HMS Hermes in person…..

That is a T-2 Buckeye in the backround. That AV-8B is one of the first test aircraft. That F-14 looks really odd not being on a carrier deck…..moron squids…….

It seems to me that there are longer serving presidents who actually won an election, who have not had an aircraft carrier named after them. Is this reserved solely for Republicans?

You mean like the USS JFK?

Personally, I think we need to go back to naming them after battles or other names, like America/Ranger/etc. I’m sick of elected pols of either party getting carriers named after them, esp living ones.

    Mine would be:
    1) Mig 17
    2) F-86 Sabre
    3)Dassault Mystère
    4)Hawker Hunter

Based mostly on how much combat they saw, and how well they did in combat.

I have always been partial to the Grumman F9F-6/7/8 series… the swept-wing Cougar.

I know it was not quite as good as the Fury-4, but it was always well-liked by the USN pilots, as the F9F-6 actually had better carrier handling characteristics than the straight-winged F9F-5 Panther.

The Cougar was extremely popular with its crews, who admired it for its ease of piloting, its superb carrier handling capabilities, and its robust construction.

Admittedly, it was a “designed for Korea” fighter that entered service in late 1952 (and left in 1959, except the trainers and reserve units), but it always was (and still is) one of my favorites.

Now if they had built the proposed F9F-8N night fighter (the two-seat F9F-8T trainer with the AN/APS-50 radar installed), then I would have a contender.

I thought I had read in one of my older books that the Cougar trainers has seen some service in Vietnam? CAS/COIN work, I thought, but I have never seen any other reference to it.

And didn’t the Douglas F3D/F-10 Skynight see service in both Korea and Vietnam? :diablo:

    Prob most B-47, B-52, FB-111, B-1, B-2, Vulcan, Victor and Tu-22 missions as well….

Heh, better than that, my father flew ADs (Skyraiders) in the USMC back in the early/mid 50s, tasked with nuke strike on USSR targets, flying from the Med off a carrier. Talk about one way mission…..

I have the Arco-Aircam Aviation Series -No. 16 on the Republic F/RF-84F Thunderstreak/Thunderflash, and it has a bunch of B&W pics of both, but few show any weapons.

Alas, the file is too large to be posted. How do you shrink the file size of photos?

If you have Photoshop or Paintshop, just resize it.

    Wilco, presuming you’re truthful.
    Shrug.

Thanks. He is still in the Marines (A Major), and those were done/taken during GW1, so with all that is currently going on, does not want people to assume they are recent pics, esp the way some folks wish to portray our servicemen.

    Thanks again!
