Sounds like it was India’s mistake rather than Dassult’s, all the IAF requirements could have been met by the Mirage 2000 and there wouldn’t have been any need for the LCA fiasco. Instead, India is now having to fork out for not only the LCA, which is less capable than the Mirage 2K in the first place, but also an additional platform to make up for the LCAs shortcomings. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

This is why it needs to drop the LCA as soon as possible, or only order a few units, and go full steam ahead with local built MiG-35s with full TOT. All the other contenders come with too many political and logistical strings attached.

Please go thru archive section to understand what MMRCA was all about ,it seems you have no idea what a re u talking about

Russian origin military plane violates Indian airspace

    BY:PTI

A military cargo aircraft AN-124 of Russian origin carrying ammunitions and five persons on board on Friday night intruded into Indian airspace and landed at the international airport in Mumbai

Indian Air Force spokesperson Wing Commander T K Singha said the plane, which entered the Indian airspace at around 2000 hrs, did not have the permission to fly over the Indian airspace.

The plane was then asked to land at the Mumbai airport which the aircraft did at 2240 hrs, he told CNN-IBN.

Singha described as โ€œuntrueโ€ earlier reports that the plane was escorted by Indian Air Force planes up to the airport in Mumbai.

IAF officials and central intelligence sleuths were questioning the people on board the aircraft.

IAF sources said the plane apparently belonging to the United States took off from Diego Garcia island, a military base near Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, and was headed for Kandahar in Afghanistan.

I won’t be surprised if about 200-300 would be inducted eventually. This is why I believe we would go for the cheaper options (F 16 IN, Gripen NG Super Hornet) and not Rafale or EF.

200 yes 300 is suicide ,let me put some figures of IAF in 2025

    MKI-230
    MMRCA-200
    LCA-200
    PAK-FA-100
    JAG/M2K/MIG-29- 100

and MCA in pipe line only figures of LCA can grow ,and i think MMRCA will Remain 126 and not more

I always like types that share major Components like Engines. So, if the IAF must get the LCA MK2. I would like to see the Super Hornet, Typhoon, or possibly Rafale.

i donot think there was any aircraft in IAF inventory where Two different Aircraft shared Same Engine , Mig-27 and Jaguar have same Avionics Upgrade ,lot Taken from Tejas Program ,Tejas MK-II may share same Engine with MMRCA ,but till IAF decides which engine is good for Tejas MK-II it can be different engine for Tejas and Different MMRCA Aircraft

what IAF is looking is a Mig-27/ Jaguar Replacement ,it may be a Strike aicraft or a multi role Aircraft ,if that has to be a American Jet i might go with F-18SH if European then EF, MKI and PAK-FA will fill the role of Air-superority Fighters ,While MCA and MMRCA Strike role and Tejas MK-1/II multi-role Fighters ,good three tier Aircrafts for Dedicated Performance
