Indian Navy favours F-35 fighters, but not in F-18 : Naval Chief
Indian Navy is willing to procure F-35 advanced fighters from US, but it is not interested in F-18 fighter planes as they are not “compatible” with the aircraft carriers of the naval force, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Arun Prakash said here today.
“Yes. Given an offer, we will be much interested in having the F-35 fighters,” Admiral Prakash told reporters when asked if the Navy would be willing to procure the advanced fighters from the US.
joey MCA project has not started yet and no funds have been released yet talking about N-MCA is to futuristic about the whole program ,N-lca is real N-MCA is speculation
even if IAF orders FA18E/F i donot think that it will ever find its way in to indian navy ,as per latest interview given by the admiral he said that ” we have to search for a platform after 2020 and we will consider F-35 because it fits into our requirements ” lets hope for the best
indian navy already has shown interest in T45C Goshawk ,hope GOI approves their plains
Ja Worsley thats confirms my news which i got ,and about the airport navy has given small land to the airport and navy still controls the flight path of the airport ,this naval airbase will form training base for Mig-29k also which will arrive by mid 2007 ,there are also talks of building new international airport for goa in a place called Mopa if it is ever build then dambolim airport will be completely handed over to indian navy , i also heared that Ins kadamba in karwar base is getting a runway for naval fighters but the work on airbase is slow thats what i have heard
harry sir i thought that the indian air force requirements have been changed ,and now new platform will have 360 degrees of search rather then 240 earlier ,drdo claimed it will have to do re-design of the radar to do so ,will the AWA&C will look the same has projected by u ?
i donot thing N-lca will be going to American or Russia ,what i have been told is that dambolim airport which also has ins hansa naval base in goa will be used for carrying out testing ,i mean a runway has been under repair to simulate arrested carrier landing ,i am not 100 % on this but the possibility is pretty much there ,only after some ground based landing testing is done on arrester hook only then further testing will be done in 2009-10 on Ins vikramaditya which will join Indian navy in 2008 ,even i have heared that indian naval pilots have got training in carrier landing in usa and mig-29 training has been provided my indian air force ,i think test pilots for N-lca will come from this batch of pilots
does any one knows any thing about which HF-XX designations it is going to get ,its still a mystery to many

Yes the Luftwaffe Mig-29s have been involved extensively at Nellis AFB in the past. I believe one date was in 1999. There are also Mi-24s that are operated by the US and contractors that are involved in various “Flags” at Nellis.
