With PV3 flying in abt 10 days or so, how different is it from PV2? There were reports that MMR was facing some issues and that 2 modes have been succesfully tested so far. Which is the 3rd one that’s giving the problem? A2G? Could not find any reports on MMR progress of late. Any new developments on that front? Would the PV3 have the MMR integrated? How far of the envelope has been explored till now? Would PV3 flying with diff AAMs on it?

PS. Its been a long time we’ve seen any new pics of LCA.. πŸ™ any new pics?

MMR had problem with ground mapping and ground attack mode ,i think Pv-3 will fly with more avionics and also MMR ,even i haven seen any new pictures of lca till date may be new pictures will come when PV-3 will make its flight

Apparently it has other issues , it just posted a mach 1.6 supercruise for the EF typhoon!!

r u saying that euro fighter cannot super cruise ????

The Typhoon is capable of sustained supersonic cruise without using afterburners. The F-22A is the only other current fighter with supercruise capabilities. According to EADS, the maximum speed possible without reheat is Mach 1.5 in what EF GmbH regard as a ‘clean’ configuration β€” e.g., without tanks, but with four BVRAAMs and two IR AAMs. (Supercruise performance drops to Mach 1.3 with a full air-to-air weapons load, including tanks). Rafale’s supercruise capabilities have been described as marginal with the current engine (the aircraft failed to demonstrate the capability during the Singapore evaluation), while the F-22 by comparison can supercruise rather faster with a full internal weapons load.

Eurofighter Typhoon has a foreplane/delta configuration which is, by nature, aerodynamically unstable.

The instability of the aircraft is derived from the position of a theoretical β€œpressure point” on the longitudinal axis of the aircraft. This is calculated from the contribution to lift from each of the aircraft components (the wings, the canards, fuselage etc). If the pressure point is in front of the centre of gravity on the longitudinal axis, the aircraft is aerodynamically unstable and it is impossible for a human to control it.

With the Eurofighter Typhoon, in subsonic flight the pressure point lies in front of the centre of gravity, therefore making the aircraft aerodynamically unstable, and is why Eurofighter Typhoon has such a complex Flight Control System – computers react quicker than a pilot.

When Eurofighter Typhoon crosses into supersonic flight, the pressure point moves behind the centre of gravity, giving a stable aircraft.

The advantages of an intentionally unstable design over that of a stable arrangement include greater agility – particularly at subsonic speeds – reduced drag, and an overall increase in lift (also enhancing STOL performance).

And says its full weapons load is 6 AAMs, & it fired a Meteor 4 months before the first test firing of one (which was by a Gripen, like all Meteor test firings so far). It has a lot of issues. πŸ˜€

depends on the type of mission euro fighter is flying

    Mission Configurations

    Close Air Support

    Configuration
    18 x Brimstone
    4 x AMRAAM
    2 x ASRAAM

    1 x 1000 litre fuel tank

may be there are explaining iaf Close Air Support Mission Configurations most of the fighters in indian airforce have his kind of Mission Configurations

    Air Superiority

    Configuration
    6 x BVRAAM
    6 x ASRAAM
    2 x 1500 litre fuel tank
    1 x 1000 litre fuel tank

    Air Interdiction

    Configuration
    2 x Stand-Off Missiles
    2 x Alarm
    4 x AMRAAM
    2 x ASRAAM
    2 x 1500 litre fuel tank
    1 x 1000 litre fuel tank

    Supression of Enemy Air Defences

    Configuration
    6 x Alarm
    4 x AMRAAM
    2 x ASRAAM

    1 x 1000 litre fuel tank

again this type of Configuration is used in iaf

So what’s changed since the last attempt to buy them fell through? Is Qatar willing to cut the price, or India willing to pay more?

bring_it_on – they come with a good stock of spares & weapons, including Mica AAMs, & are reported to be in good condition. Low hours, & supposedly well-maintained.

what i heared from some indians staying in qatar say that they see mirage-2000-5 flying around like hell if india buys them it will be send to france for recheck i donot think it has low hours has made by qatar airforce

I meant in addition to the new MRCA they are talking about too.

Correct me if I am but M2K is very different to M2K-5.

    Weapons, avionics, radar etc.

Unless of course they upgrade their remaning M2Ks

you are right m2k have old avionics and engines but you might like to read this

Thales keen on upgrading iaf Mirage 2000 To Dash-5 category.
