NLCA Mk2 with higher powered engine is required since NLCA MK1 will struggle to take off with higher payload from AC , this is what i have been told by a Naval officer and also he mentions that Wind factor will also be crucial factor to operate NLCA MK1 on board AC, IN has been very clear about new engine upgrade from the start with ADA and HAL but they have not changed their ASR for the aircraft but due to new ASR issued by IAF to take more payload it will be similar to them

One important and interesting piece of information in the original news story was that Thales and Phazotron were dropped “due to technical reasons”. In particular I find it interesting and surprising that Thales was dropped for technical reasons….I wonder what those were?

Americans staying away from AESA program makes you wonder what kind of drown graded AESA we will get in their platform for MMRCA, i had read some where that SH radar of Australia had some limitation done on purpose

India has been saying it wants a higher powered aircraft than the Hawk for the follow-on order of 57 LIFT/AJT’s. Based on this I suppose the Mk951 based Hawk may be chosen for its 6500lbs dry thrust.

I wonder why RR didnot make an after burning version of the Mk951 which would be better pitted against the Honeywell F125IN.

After super duper after sales service from BAE and after losing one HAWK :rolleyes:, IAF has asked HAL to re-submit its Twin CAT AJT proposal for study ,and if they think it is feasible HAL might built one for them 😎

    @Witcha

pretty much all Transport aircraft in development are in pretty clueless condition

SARAS : suffered due to Russians backing out in 90s

MTA: still not sure if the project is heading anyways yet

RTA: Same people with out much expertise’s are claiming to make this project working ,Government regulatory body has already warned them about it and might go the same way has SARAS

They want to integrate on Indian Jags and do a one on one with Honeywell across the entire flight characteristics and operating conditions before deciding , it will take 2 years for the entire program to be completed.

Does British jag or Indian Jag have different airframe ? NOPE simply waste of time , i think even this Jaguar engine upgrade deal will go like Mig-27 ,dumped for purchase of additional MMRCA

Each participant will be given one aircraft each they will integrate their engines and flight test it and IAF will validate the engine performance across the broad parameters of flight regime.

Post those testing the IAF will decide who gets the deal , its another 2 years in the making.

Birts have already integrated their engine with an Ex RAF jaguar and demonstrated to IAF official , only Honeywell will require an aircraft to demonstrate

Wasn’t there a pitch to upgrade the mig 27 engines?

Yes Al-31 engine was used to power Indian Mig-27 and was certified by Russia ,but that deal failed for some reason , some say IAF does not want to keep Mig-27 to long in IAF

Theere is a confusion regarding the aircraft shown to the media and another aircraft spooted

    http://www.flightglobal.com/assets/getAsset.aspx?ItemID=34979

aircraft shown shows LCA written on the side of the aircraft ,while above image shows Tejas written on it , Earlier posted picture donot have landing gear bay door ,while this one has it , i think one shown to media is static test model , any one have any further ideas about it ?

I agree with Misraji , it has to be in phase wise , even if whole techincal details of Tejas or even IJT is given to Mahindra Aerospace or Godrej Aerospace it will take them years to put them under production , But people like me who have worked in Auto Industries (Tata Motors) know how much of Engine components or gear box or transmission TATA really manufactures or all the Advance engine of Mahindra Scorpio (M-Hawk series or CRDIe) comes from . some time i feel they are more of assembler and manufacturers then Developers .

four or five years ago IAF had sold some (Two) Su-7 to a scrap dealer and moment it landed in scrap yard ,there was a mini Fair in scrap yard, since many had never seen fighter aircraft and news made it into Print media too i still remember two su-7 been shown in the picture they where in pretty bad condition , scrap dealer had told that he bought it for 5 lakhs only , IAF might have sold all of them to scrap by now .
