Saras PT-2 crashed because of wrong engine relight drills it was not pilot error
what is plaaf requirmeent of J-10B ? when will it go on full production ?
wing Re-design will not be made but changes to its dimensions ,it may also be strengthen to carry extra payload ,i never heared of extra hard points but it may have dual dual rail points to support more AAM and small Bombs
I am surprised when people are thinking that Tejas MK-I and Tejas MK-II will have different airframe designs ,i can confirm that both will share 90 to 95 % of the Airframe design and only major changes will come in engine area and some extra sensor area for AESA Radar and its subsystems . Elta-MMR is been designed in such a way that it will take little modification to make it AESA . Tejas MK-II will get complete set of new avionics suite that includes new Aesa and lesser LRU , as soon as engine is selected work on the MK2 will start keeping in mind inputs taken for engine manufacture
Real Shocker ,i had contacted him several times for My Tejas Project ,i still cannot believe that he was just 23 ,His intelligence on Defence matters was far greater then any teenager have this days ,i always wondered where he disappeared ,it surely is great loss for Defence community in India
It is a real shocker i have interacted with him many time for his Pictures of Tejas for my Tejas site ,my condolence to his Family ,it was surprising that we only found out after almost 2.5 years after his death ,He was a Great Internet Warrior for Indian Defence Cause , His Death has left a Huge void in defence community of India , May his Soul Rest in Peace
He visited Key same unfortunate day on May 23 2007
IL-76 was readily available to India and Israel. As well as Israel did lots of works on IL-76 mounted Phalcon for China. MRTA is yet to take shape and it will take many years before cleared for service as usual for Indian/Russian aircrafts.
Actually IAI recommended Boeing or Gulf stream as a platform for Indian phalcons since they had experience working on them ,it is right that Israelis had worked on IL-76 meant for china but i don’t know for what reasons Israelis where asking India to consider Boeing
Hi guys
Su-30MKI was 40+10 plus 140 manufactured/assembled in phases. Now additional 40 + 50 are contemplated. In some places it is reported that that these 40+50 will be full import, some report that they will be assembled and some are just DDMs. So what will be the level of indigenisation of these additional 40+50??
yes 40 + 50 will be direct import from Russia and will be MKI-3 chances of this birds having Stealthy modification is also high. such as internal weapons bay which has been done to a mki airframe recently by Russia
Tucano will be a fine addition to iaf
Even when the last batch of Mig-27 was built in Hal in late 90’s ,IAF wanted Avionics upgrade to, even HAL who built Mig27 agreed that Avionics of Mig27 are outdated , upgrade of avionics was planned some time ago ,but resources where not available, after successful avionics upgrade on Jaguar locally then came the Mig27 upgrad, look you will hear lot of news of jaguar engine change wht about mig-27 ? after some few old articles of 2003 there has not been any new reports of Mig27 engine upgrade
I have probably forgotten more about the IAF than you ever knew to begin with, so leave the posturing at the door, heh.
Now.
Get this straight – I was talking of the series Jaguar production vis a vis the MiG-27 production, and if you compare those, not the 37 DARIN-2 new builds, you’d see they follow similar timelines.
Furthermore, in IAF experience the MiG-27s are sturdy birds & where they are really lacking today is in terms of powerplants which have a ready solution in sight, given India is producing over 920 AL-31 FPs, and probably the same number of AL-55I’s which make it entirely viable for HAL to extend a production run for other AL-31 derivatives.
Finally, one more point – the MiG-27s India license produced were from Irkut – yes, thats right, the same factory which is now IAPO & which was the MKI lead. The gentleman who was in charge of the MiG-27 license production? A certain Mr Alexey Fedorov. You know what he led after that? The Su-30 MKI program. Know where he is nowadays? He heads this tiny little organization, called UAC.

You know when the AL-31 re-engining story was first reported? 2003. As the IAF being interested in the upgrade.
Still think the MiG-27 re-engining offer came because the Russians had nothing better to do?
Please.
Point is that the IAF has given it some thought & might go for it, if it needs to.
in 2003 IAF wanted to change the engine of both Mig-23 and Mig-27 ,Mig-23 was crashing more then Mig-21 and 23 mig-27 were lost in span of 14 years those are huge numbers for newly inducted jets ,but Al-31 engine only gave some or little advantage over Khatchaturov R-29 and required lot of modification to airframe unlike Jaguar Engine upgrade
Russians want business, they will offer even sinks if they can get orders out of it , IAF got rid of Mig-23 even before its time , since both Mig-27 and Mig-23 are based on same airframe and almost same engine Mig-27 size will shrink in future and only small fleet will see 2025
No IAF didn’t tell me that ,but people who follow Indian air force will know that , it seems you have no idea about jaguar production in India more then 20 Brand new HAL built jets have been inducted in less then 3 years and around same numbers are less then 5 years old last Jaguar airframe inducted in IAF been late 2008 ,last airframe of Mig-27 was delivered to IAF in 1997 almost 12 years ago , MMRCA will be replacing Mig-27 so only Avionics upgrade was carried out on Mig-27 while Jaguars got new Avionics and will also be getting New engines
LCA PV-5 twin seater first flight soon..
BY:Express News Service
The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme has achieved another significant breakthrough as its final prototype vehicle PV-5 will soon take to the skies. The PV-5, one of the five prototype vehicles developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency is ready with the Engine Ground Run currently being carried on.
Defence Research and Development Organisation sources told Express that the Engine Ground Run for the PV-5, a two-seat trainer prototype is currently being carried out, before it can be certified to fly.
“The Engine Ground Run precedes the low-speed taxi trial and the high speed taxi-trials, following which the first flight of the aircraft will take place,” said sources. “Once the weather improves the taxi trial will be carried and so will the first flight of the PV-5,” sources added.
Unlike the other four prototypes (PV-1, PV-2,PV-3,PV-4) and the two technology demonstrator (TD-1 and TD-2) aircraft, the PV-5 apart from being a two-seat trainer version of the LCA will be identical to the fighter.
It will be fully combat capable and could be used in that role.
The LCA has completed 1,141 Test Flights successfully as on June 25.
ADA, the technology development agency for the indigenous LCA programme, hopes to get the Initial Operational Clearance before being inducted in the IAF by 2010. IAF plans to have seven LCA squadrons.
IAF is not interested in Mig-27 Engine upgrade at all ,AL-31 powered Mig-27 loaned to Russia did fly last year but IAF is not that keen on Engine Upgrade while Avionics and System upgrade is in full swing ,Jaguars which has newer airframes will get a New engine since it is gonna serve for more years then Mig-27
