Pretty cool !!
thanks for the find..
Formin’s book is updated regularly. Have you heard of editions? Much of the info on the Su-30MKK wasn’t even available on the year 2000. Do you know that? KnAAPO first published the actual MTOW of the MKK (38.8MT) around the 2001. For Formin’s book to reflect that piece of data, the edition of that book has be around 2002 and later.
Wishful thinking to prove a point, eh ?
2002 ?? Please provide a isbn number so I can order it.
Wishful thinking. I’ve seen credible people say things that are wrong by honest or typographical mistake. You don’t even know if this is just an editing error, typing 39,000 instead of 34,000.
And what about Irkut? Didn’t they actually MAKE the plane? What about Sukhoi? Didn’t they actually DESIGN the plane? Are they not credible sources to you?
It was there when I visited in 2002/2003 and even there the last time I saw it in 2004.
Visiting what ? Irkut plant ??

Why did the trimaran deisgn get canned ? That seemed very promising..
Nice to have the dimensions of a 50K top side for 40k tonnage..
Very nice birds, I have always liked them. Wish more countries would buy those as trainers.
One use is LCA comparable engine aircraft while the other uses is F-16 equivalent engine. So similar will be difference is payloads in actual service not on theory.
So if understand correctly J-10 is an enlarged Lavi ??
Golden Dragon:
I dislike pi$$ing contests, that you appear to like, and do not participate in them as a rule. But would you say that I am flaming when I ask you to look at the following two pictures

and
http://www.airwar.ru/image/i/fighter/j10.jpg
😮 😮 😮
Holy smokes .. They do look similar.. Whats different between the two planes ??

I really wonder if India wanted a brand new plane from an unexperimented compagny as more common fighter.
😮 Unexperimented company ???
Well not really …
Thanks for those layover images harry.
Here is what shalav made for comparision’s between different aircraft, just for those forgetful folks out there.. I have a newer revision, I will put up soon..
1.France
2.Germany
3.Turkey (much better army than anyone else there at the moment)
4.UK
5.Sweden
Can we stick to pictures ??
There was talk of the French selling the whole Mirage 2000 -5 production line to the Indians for $ 7 B . Does anyone think thats a good idea? However good an aircraft it maybe , the Mirage is at the end of it lifespan and there is only so much u can do with it. There are a range of newer generation aircraft being developed .
Its real bad idea.. if one needs techs, it makes sense to buy them separately and speed up LCA, i.e if there is need. No point in buying the airframe and paying dev costs for it.
Buy Radar/Engine/Counter-measure suite if needed.
Really no point in buying that old airframe.
I am talking about like the ops in NE in early december, where IA had to go against usual lot of 1000’s of ULFA buggers.
something like these cued by UAV sensor imagery would be useful for patrolling the supply chain in places like iraq and af. lot of people have been felled by IEDs and regular old F-16s are probably too expensive and scarce to maintain a constant vigil?
Being so light and all, they probably cheap to fly as well.
It might make more sense to load these up with IR imager on one pylon and a SAR imagery pod on the other and provide constant COIN pictures in nasty situation with Wizzo playing Controller as well.
Only problem is that UAV’s will have longer loiter time than this.
But this might be able to strafe positions if provided with an internal gun as well.
What is the loiter time of this pampa 2000 ? It certianly looks very similar and nice as well.
Whatever happened to Sa.311, are they still being sold ?
It wasn’t the pilot who got burned, AFAIR, it was a tech testing it who got burns..
