Well argued post (as per) Kev, but I fear you are wasting your time. The simple fact, plain to all, is that the whole American gun-loving culture is out of control, and the Columbines, the Sandy Hooks and the Virginia Techs will just go on and on because (as I keep repeating) the people of America seem to see it as a price worth paying. I just wish people had the balls to at least face up to what is happening, instead of dodging the issue by claiming anti-gun=anti-USA,or coming up with bizarre arguments like “More people die in hospitals than in front of a gun, so if you ban guns you should ban hospitals too” As for the case of the 5 year old shooting his sister, again it’s just ducking the issue to debate parental responsibilty for leaving a round in the chamber; no 5 year old kid should have been given a gun in the first place. If that BBC article is correct (and if it’s not, I’m sure someone will correct me) there are even “Youth Model” guns in pretty colours to appeal to kids. Utter bloody madness.

Can someone please explain to me the mentality that considers it acceptable to give a gun to a 5 year old child?

I disagree (post 930) The problem is the sheer insanity of giving a gun to a 5 year old child in the first place. Utter madness.

Just when you think it can’t get any crazier, you find guns specifically aimed (pardon the pun) at the child market, with the inevitable tragic consequences. For God’s sake, wake up America.

I loved “The Dustbin Men” with Winston (always on about “Colin Piggin’ Bell) Cheese & Egg, and Smelly Ibbotson.

It also says more than 9,500 A320 family aircraft have been ordered. Will it eventually overtake the 737 in sales?

Thanks both. Booked with Monarch last year, and even at check-in they didn’t tell us it was a change of plane; that 737 has to be the worst kept airliner I’ve ever flown on.

I’d like to think Roy Brown, but I suspect it was more likely the Aussies on the ground
