Stupidity has just rewards and the dead man got his, that said; whether it was a single shot rifle, shotgun or any other hand held weapon is a vacuous argument.
How many round the firearm can discharge means nothing except to those who have an agenda to shout from there soapbox.
Had the girl mishandled a single-shot weapon that fired, struck and killed an instructor the soap-box people would be spouting the same — Nine year old child, blah, blah, blah, blah.
The fact it was a sub-machine gun just makes them shout their vacuous point more belligerently. The only point that can forwarded, is that the instructor broke rules of safety and paid the price for ignoring safety.
No, what is “vacuous” is failing to acknowledge the crass stupidity of giving a child a gun -any gun- in the first place. But never mind, the instructor got his “just rewards” for his mistake.
I have better ways of spending my time than getting sucked into this kind of rubbish again, so I’m out.
The country wouldn’t half be a funny shape without Scotland. A bit like a fat rabbit sat knitting. And, er, looking at something…

Yeah, I know what you mean, Charlie. Think I was about 13, lol. Seven or eight seems to be considered the “right” age nowadays, though.
I agree 7 seems a bit young, but I sometimes sense he’s getting ready to ask. Certainly won’t be rushing him into it, but want to be ready just in case. So, any tips?
Great work. Thanks for sharing.
Just to say thanks for the replies, folks. Some good advice which is much appreciated.
Michael Palin Diaries; The Python Years, 1969-1979. Brilliant.
The poor lambs will probably claim compensation from the Govt for not warning them properly about it.
Thanks very much for the useful advice. I guess I’ve got nothing to lose by trying a few publishers directly before looking for an agent. If that fails, I’ll probably think about Internet publishing, although I must admit I’m a little wary of that. Thanks again.
Cheers mate, will do.
I stress I am a wholly disinterested party.
I realise that Charlie, and thanks very much for taking an interest. I guess the bottom line is that I’m a bit old-fashioned about putting the results of all my hard work out on the Internet, and worried about things like copyright, being ripped off, etc. I still remember all those horror stories about what used to be called “Vanity Publishing” where a so-called publisher would tell you there was great potential in your work but they needed an investment from you to get it off the ground, and then of course once they’d got your dosh they’d make little or no attempt to actually produce or distribute it. Think I’m going to have to do a bit of research into it all now. Thanks again for your advice.
Saw him talking Boll.. ,er Politics on telly a while ago, and it was like he was on some strange mission to insert the word “paradigm” into every sentence. I s’pose it will impress the Yoof though innit.
…a certain person in a Monte Python skit.
Are my ears burning?
Go on, then. Just the one…
Yeah, just a slight paunch, Charlie. 😀
