…….or me , I’m out of Gatwick supposedly on the 14th with Thomsonfly. Still , I expect to see the lovely Brendan Gold of Unite , the union involved , handing out the tea and coffee’s to those he has inconvinienced.
Also very interesting that he has called a strike “with strong backing” based on the fact that of the Unite workforce members involved only 53% could give a toss enough to vote about it and about 1.25 in 3 voted no. Therefore , I make this a strike which is endorsed by about 31-33% of the those that will be striking. The man is a total A-Hole.

Although its a young frame , its still a long way from home at an airfield which doesn’t offer much in terms of facilities to help the engineers with what might be a big ask on looking at the photos only. If I had to place a bet I’d say that the only way out of Ecuador for it is in boxes of many pieces 🙁

Very sad news indeed , I feel deeply sorry for all those affected by what happened in Sao Paulo earlier.
It certainly initially doesn’t bode well in terms of several aircraft having problems with skidding prior to this fatal incident and the recent runway improvements. I feel another round of internal Brazilian finger-pointing is going to start. Reports do point to the fact that the pilot seemingly did all he could , including an attempt at avoiding buildings , but ran out of luck.

From memory Monarch , Airtours and Thomas Cook operate A330 direct to Puerto Plata ; no stops , flight time around 8 1/2 hrs. Went with TCX wahen they were still JMC on the then three week old A330 G-OJMC.
Value for money its the best place I’ve visited ; really nice people who can’t do enough for you. Chances are I might be going again myself in December if I can save the cash.

Dublin is very easy to access from the airport , I was there about three weeks ago. Firstly when you leave the terminal turn left and walk up to the Bus Stop where the Dublin Citybus no 747 leaves from. Six euros each way and this bus will stop in O’Connell Street ; ask the driver to tell you when you get there. Buses run every 15 mins each way.
From O’Connell Street you walk down and across into Grafton Street which is the main shopping street and theres loads of bars and stuff just off there.
Alternatively walk down O’Connell Street cross the river and turn right which takes you right into Temple Bar…more eats , more beer.
Hop-on/hop-off citybus tours leave from the bottom of Grafton Street too so thats an idea along with the Guinness storehouse.
Its an easy place to get round and get back from. A reasonable spotting place airside is the Ritazza coffe bar located down towards the C and D gates which overlooks one of the thresholds so you can pick up both the landings and the take-offs.
If you want one place thats good food-wise try this http://www.boxty-house.ie.

I hope everything works out job-wise for everyone in this and it turns out to be a mere rebranding under the TCX banner but i suspect not as in most cases and other industries , there are always “casualties”…not good.
Has this been on the cards for some time or has TCX been waiting for MYT to start posting a profit before jumping in ? I can’t find any articles stating this was a possibility.
Having listned to radio reports today and read the internet detail then it does seem TCX will be the banner-brand and MYT will be consigned to the long list of past liveries.

I’d bet one is for the Amiri flight and the other is for the Saudi guys who have the fancy coloured A340…is it SAAD they call themselves ? Or maybe the Sultan of Brunei has been saving up 😀

Still collect registrations now and have been doing for 33 years this year.It used to be all civil until i was about 20 and then it switched to just airliners and business jets only when i actually got interested in the business behind the planes themselves.
Photography of them has never really bothered me although the various aviation photo sites around on the internet and the digital photo age is getting me interested in that side as well.
It is getting more and more difficult to do the hobby for obvious reasons and i resent that the hobby is used as a pariah or a scapegoat by the authorities when you need to save a little cash…eh BAA !!!!
I generally do the ‘row once every six weeks and gatwick once every twelve weeks but Stansted and Luton are a little too far for regularity.
My “escape” is a foreign trip twice a year either with the excellent “Aeroprints” tours to Amsterdam , Paris or Frankfurt ; or the holidays with my better half which indulges me for a couple of hours at the relevant airport on the way home or if i’m truly devious , book a hotel close to the flightpath so i can do holiday AND spot which is ideal.
In fact i enjoy my hobby more now , because of the internet and all the interesting info around than i did when i was younger.
Hopefully, later this year i hope to be holidaying and going through Singapore Changi for a bit of registration exotica:cool:

It’s ok but i’d prefer the tail to be completely red with the Centaur centralised and enlarged in a metallic gold similar to Virgins metallic silver.I’d retain the stylised windows for sure and i’d maybe change the titling for billboard style titles either side of the fuselage in the same metallic gold.
Lets hope the next to pull out their finger for a long overdue change might be either Olympic or Lufthansa maybe.

Intersting on this thread that no-one has considered the “death” of Litvinenko is a cover-up because he’s too valuable to the west. Show everyone through the press what that nasty Putin man can do to people and then spirit the guy away , under cover , to a new identity somewhere ?
Think i read too many espionage books ??? …. then i suggest you consider how “improbable” this story seemed four weeks ago.
