Any chance of a picture?
Of the borrowed grip or the grip that I’m restoring?
Update
I’ve been able to borrow and complete Hurricane Grip from another project team. And using the fire button assembly from that grip I’ve able to determine the dimensions I require with one exception. That dimension is the threads for the air valve that screws in to the valve body with the inlet pipes. Or even better, does anyone know the model number of the original air valve or a replacement valve?
I’m happy to share the drawings when I’m finished with the understanding that they are not for an airworthy project.
Thanks,
Ron
I actually have a replica button assembly but oddly is too large to fit the spade grip. And I’d really like to use as many of the original parts as possible.
Now that I’ve take the assembly apart it turns out that I require items 6, 9, and 10 to restore the assembly back to its original pneumatic system. I’m hoping someone has “spares” or drawings that I can use to make the replacement parts. Even photographs of these parts would be helpful.
Many thanks everyone for your feedback.
Cheers!
Does anyone know how to remove the firing button assembly from the spade grip?
Its for my Hurricane grip so the round type button. Below is a picture showing the electrical wiring exiting the brass bass.
What I’m looking for are drawings to machine a new brass bass and attached brass tubing for the pneumatic system. So in the picture below, it’s the item on the left for which I need a drawing.
I’ll send you a PM with pics.
Hi Ed,
I thought that I had answered about the Wirraway starter switch. Perhaps not. It’s not the switch I’m looking for unfortunately.
Using an epoxy is a great idea. Had thought about the machine a slot and using hidden bolts but the epoxy will be much easier.
Any luck with the CCF Hurricane spar?
Cheers,
Ron
Chapter 1 I believe. I’m interested in the details of the firing button to restore mine that was converted to an electric button.
Thanks
The National Archives wanted £150 for a copy of it. :apologetic:

The project contains parts of 5 Hurricanes, a Mk X, 2 MKXIIs, a Mk I and Mk II. The only known donor aircraft is RCAF 5467. As this is a composite aircraft I don’t think it qualifies as a survivor.
That’s absolutely stellar Terry. Those drawings are a huge help! Thank you so much 🙂
Yes it’s a very helpful start. I’m also looking for the dimensions to locate each of the instrument bolt holes, BFM holes and the radius of each of the four corners.
Thank you
I’m sorry to see another warbird leave Canada but this Bf109 belongs in the UK or Europe. Maybe we could trade it for a couple of Canadian built Hurricanes? :highly_amused:
