I have the drawing for the Hurricane gun sight mount. But the screen holder isn’t shown on the drawing.
Tony, would happen to know the part number for this piece?
Thanks for the great explanation Powerandpassion. I understand it now. Sent a PM and yes I have a section of CCF made spare available.
Cheers
Thanks for responding Tony. I have complete tubes with square ends. But any idea of how you read the spec?
I’d be interested in a set of bearings for my Hurricane project. Count me in please.
Ron
Thanks Tony. These links are cool.
Thanks Steve. I’m assuming that I would have to supply the tubing to Hawker Restorations or will they square one or two off tubes?
Where would I find drawings of the standard rolls?
Dave, are you planning on reverse engineering this machine?
Thanks again Ross
I wonder where all the Hawker drawing archives are? I’d like to find a drawing for this machine.
Think of it as a combined English Wheel and slip forming rolls.
The handwheel on top puts manually incremented pressure on the tube to reduce the section. Each pass a twist reduces the gap slightly.
The gears allow the turns of the crank handle to draw the section through the rolls until the required length is cold formed.
Regards
Ross
Thanks Ross,
So does it take several passes to square each end. Are all four sides of the tube squared at the same time?
Yes, we plan to completely restore the aircraft to flying condition. We have a facility located in Southern Ontario along with the physical resources to complete the restoration. In addition, we in the process of completing the legal steps to gain non-profit status. Fundraising efforts will continue on a full-time basis to support all maintenance and flying operations. We are also looking to acquire a Harvard IV to be part of our pilot training program. But the important step is to acquire AM274.
Thank you for your interest.
Is there a larger version of the grip dimensions available? Can’t quite read this one.
There are at least two airworthy Hurricanes in Canada and a third nearing completion. And, I believe there are at least two more airworthy Hurricanes in the USA. And I know of at least 6 project Hurricanes underway.
Let me correct my last statement… the RPM gauge is missing and the starting magneto switch is incorrect!
