Daz, horror!! You have forgotten Buchon G-HUNN, now at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum!
Daz, that would be SM520?
Daz, same here – it just gets extracted from my grey matter too. I guess the only difference being I was there at the time and it leaves a deeper impression on you. thankfully I was away at the time of the accident but still think about it often and wonder what the collection would have become if fate had not intervned.
Yes could be Laurie, Y11F – look at the big box of cleaning supplies he brought with him – very dedicated!
The three Buchons make a unique sight. They had, of course, just completed filming of ‘Mephis Belle’ and we had ‘collected’ G-HUNN back from OFMC the previous afternoon.
Janie – the person standing next to RW382 in the North Weald shot is presumably someone from HFL.
Yes that is EE606 arriving at the Duxford airshow (June 10th ?) 1989. John Lewis was flying her. Only other show appearance was at an RAF base Families day the morning of the day she was lost (1st July 1989). Dave Southwood flew her that time.
Daz, the correct details are in my earlier post – repeated above (although I was one day out for the Duxford show date which was in fact the 11th). The accident was not on the way back from Duxford but some three weeks later.
The lovely shots of ‘EE606’ bring back some great memories of that wonderful Sunday at Dx. Thanks for posting them Moondance.

Same with PL965, just the D-Day stripes that are not right.
Ahhh, so MJ730 really did wear the GZ-? codes then? I always thought they’d based the scheme on a Spitfire XVIII of the same squadron
No – 730 was the original GZ-?
I suppose there is a good reason for the rather ample, yellow gentleman to be enjoying a Spitfire ride. Was the two-seater not available?
Yes – he was preventing a propstrike (all three of them in fact)!!!
When checking the CAA’s G-INFO site I find that TE184 has not had a CofA since 1992, although there might be a change coming up.
Look again, the year was 2002!
Re Ham Standards-
I’m FAR from expert – No Spits with Hamilton Standards. But I think there were some Buchons with Ham Std props (ex DC-3?) including G-HUNN(?) and there was a Spitfire in the Battle of Britain filming with a Buchon prop… So, in theory… But that was then, and this was now. Mark, can you correct/polish/elaborate/dismiss? 😀
G-HUNN certainly flew (and probably still does) with a three-blade Hamilton Standard prop. The four blade Buchon props were specially produced by Rotol and yes, were interchangeable with a Rotol Spitfire type 4-blade prop. There is a published picture of Spitfire TE308 wearing one to prove it.
