Smashing pictures nice to see my fave – Rafale gorgiousssssss, how come so many where “tooled up” with what looks like live gear amram/sidewinder etc, i thought display or fighter meet get togethers are normaly with non armed a/c or normaly dummies.

thanks dude, there aint no live rounds on these jets. all of them carry capitve missiles as far as I can tell.. the blue band on the missile body is a dead giveaway. a live one would have a brown band on the rocketmotor and a yellow one on the HE parts.

    Scanor,

depends whether the AF was involved in getting you access and at what conditions.
Although budgets are tight they should offer some form of compensation if they want to use your photos.

They did’t get me nothin’ actually. I was standing outside the showarea as I often am.. I drove down to Kjevik (about 200 miles from where I live) on my own accord and nothing was sponsored by other than me.

But I do agree. They have budgets, but they aint that tight over here.

Thanks a mill for enjoying my pics fellas I really appriciate it 🙂

Got a mail from the RNoAF press office today and they would like the Airforce related ones.. but they where not intrested in any payment or compensation in any way.. Needless to say I feel alittle bummed out and I’m now thinkin about leting them have it or not.. I’m thinkin if they want highres they can afford to atleast give me somethin’.

    What yall think ?

Some fantastic shots,, whats with “The Saint” graphic on the tail of the P3? I liked it. Any shots with a spitfire in it gets my attention, must be a “brit” thing, lol

The P-3 is from 333rd sqd based at Andøya AB (a place so windy the freakn asphalt has been blown away from the runway and local roads more than once..). Anyhow 333rd has a callsign like most AF sqds do..you can guess what it is…. Nooo kiddn it’s “Saint” so I guess you can figure it out from there. 🙂

Lightningspirit, yea the end of RWA04 basicly is the seafront.. actually the runninglights are mounted on poles situated in the water. There is a beach just on the other side from the Airport called Hamresanden. and if you ever go to Kjevik to spot planes and need a brake, trust me, in the summer there is plenty other to spot at that beach, if you catch my drift 😉

Kristiansand area girls are very nice 😀

Some stunning shots there! I thought that Kristiansand was having some bad weather that day as us in the UK had some awful weather at the time. I saw the Catalina fly over us on the way there on the Friday then came right over our house on the way back. Would be nice to see that Red White & Blue F16 over here for a display. Nice little airport to display from, was there a big attendance?

    Martin

    Thanks 🙂

the weather was perfect, ’bout 20C and CAVOK. Some of the F-16 shots are from the friday practice runs, the rest is from saturdays show. It’s hard to guess but I’d say the crowd was like 15-18000 or so.. it was a helluva traffic jam to say the least. Kristiansand aint the largest city ever, but for the area I’d say it was a fearly big turnout.

Yea that viper display was really nice. I aint ever seen nothin like that here in Norway for many years. The last one that had a cool rutine was Maj “Pea” Ertsgaard back in the late 90’s early 2000’s. But the RNoAF aint ever had a viper for display use only. BTW the jet is 80-3686 tail nr “686. It will show off on sevral occations here in Norway the next months. Next is at NATO Tigermeet at Orland AB next week.

Then at Kjeller AP on june 3’rd (kjeller is just outside of Oslo and from the UK you can fly into direct from London Heatrow to Oslo Gardermoen airport, catch a train to Lillestrøm station and a cab or a bus from there it’s about two miles to Kjeller AP. Both SAS Scandinavian, British Airways and Norwegian.NO has a number of flights a day. You can catch an early flight into OSL and a late flight outta there. no problem.

Then on June 16-17th at Bodø in Northen Norway (you can fly into there from Oslo, but be aware that most hotells are full for that weekend). This will be the main show this year. Furthermore at Andøya Airbase the following weekend, Gjeiteryggen/Skien Airport on Aug 25th and a show that is set over Oslo harbur on Sept 1’st.

I aint sure if it will fly abroad this year.. but I doubt it..

Here is a vid from inside the cocpit during the rutine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwTB-WHbRig&feature=my_liked_videos&list=LLo2IylqbfT6hdLpid3LVmyg

    Hi 🙂

I left my camera with a friend when I went to get food and drinks. That was the worst organised I ever did see. And whos idea was that to buy tickets first and then que up for another one. or two depending on what kinda food you wanted.

Last year at Oceana this was orgenized in a much better way

I was lucky enough to park at the Red lot so we did’t have to wait all night for a bus. the que for the blue lot when I left was close to a kilometer long, and I’m not exaturating. it went all the way to the bleachers

    Hej PL 🙂

Sigma 55-200 is way to slow for “jetshooting”, I tried a friends lens and could not get back to my lenses soon enough. Your camra is plenty good, but the lens holds you back.

A Canon 70-200 F4 L USM is a good place to start. I got mine 2 years ago and use it for almost anything, and it turns out grate images. I also have a 1.4 extender that I use every once in a while. I usually stop it down 2 steps and the images are tack sharp and contrast is lovely.

I got the 100-400 IS L lens, both because I liked the extra range, and the IS. The image quality is very nice indeed. It’s a bit soft @ 400 MM wide open, but stop it down 2 steps and IS mode 1 works wonders, I got shots pin sharp down to 1/50 @400mm and F8
