Hmmmmmmmmmm. Interesting. *pulls gently upon beard*. I don’t think I can argue with you. 🙂
I don’t know about the 159 but I can look up the 200 and get back to you. Can’t promise a price though and in any case you never read the same price twice. It all depends on whether they are quoting the ‘sticker’ price or the price for an entire package such as maintenence infrastructure, weapons, training, delivery etc which all go to inflate the price of the actual aircraft so its not an exact science. Sometimes an aircraft looks on paper a whole lot more expensive than it actually is.
What I can tell you of the Hawk 200 is this:
It is a lightweight single seat multi role fighter and utilises an APG65 radar (depending on customer requirements.) It is powered by a Rolls Royce/Turbomecca Adour turbofan rated at between 6500 and 7500lbst depending on which paper you are reading and the model (its very customer specific.) It weight is roughly (~) 7000 to 8000lb again depending on the paper you are reading and I’m not sure about the external load, I think it is about 7000lb and has about 3000lb of internal fuel but I’m not sure of this. It has a speed of about 650knots, uses 7 external hardpoints (including wingtip rails) and ‘might’ have a 25mm internal cannon but I’m not sure about this. If not you can fit a centreline podded cannon. Its has a ‘combat’ rated wing though I’m not sure what that means. I think it can also be fitted with a fixed inflight refueling probe but its endurance is of particular note because its engine is so damned efficient.
I’ll get back to you about weapons and more later.:)
Birdstrike? Debri in the intakes? Faulty compressor? Sorry it almost sounds like I know what I am talking about. I’m sure they will find out when they recover the wreckage and the flight recorder. I’m just happy the ejector seats worked. 🙂
Um, PILOTGHT, I think you’ll find that I’ve had an identical topic running for the last two days. Makes this a bit redundant
I know it is ForkTail but when he is not talking sh!te I actually enjoy conversing with him. Think of it as encouragement. 😉
what ****ing range get edge? give me a A2A Missile who have 100kms range in european arm stock?
Hold on one cotton picking minute! 100km = ~60miles yes? Are we taliking about missiles actually in service or not far off service entry (not far off meaning perhaps 4 or 5 years)? If the latter is the case I point you to the Meteor being developed by about 5 European countries (possibly including France but don’t quote me on that) which has a range of between 50 and 70nm (~60 to 80 miles or ~97 to 130kms).
Okay if you are talking about ‘right now’ fair enough you have a point but it doesn’t alter the detection range of the CAPTOR system which is designed with the Meteor ‘in-mind’.
Low level flight training through the mountains?
PILOTGHT. For once I have to agree with you. 🙂 Very sad that the F22 won over this beauty.
Bad news; good news. Very happy that the crew are safe. Were there any casualties on the ground?
What is Velvia?

Bob ‘bleeding’ Hoskins. Well it is good to talk and its better than my younger brother (like a tall Danny Baker or a thin(ish) Phil Jupitus) and one of my older brothers who looks a bit like Mick Aston off the ‘Time Team’. My oldest brother looks like my mum.
