as far as i know plan is to repaint her as she is. I will try to upload more pics soon once i get a bband.

The arrival date at brunty is planned for the 25th july, around 10-11 oclock leaving Shawbury at about 5 AM, once there she will be lifted onto jacks and the gear lowered. The wings can then be reattached, although wether that will be all done on the same day is another thing entirley !
We then plan to give her a detailed look over and draw up a work schedule to begin putting her back into running order.

544 was notorious for fuel leaks and spent a lot of time in the hanger when active.
As an aircraft her history is not that exciting , apart from being a Buccaneer of course. The main noticeable part of her history was that she was the second bucc to fly after the “withdrawal from peacetime flying” notice was removed by the government.

Been across to 544 this morning, this was planned to maybe be the last visit before the move, but due to mr black & decker not being strong enough,we will have to go back with a generator to drill out the screws holding the pitot tube cover on ! plus it kept raining and i have delicate skin !

the road move is set for 25th july all confirme. as to the cost buccsociety we still dont know if warwickshire police will be providing an escort or not.

going to Shawbury to remove the pitot probe today for loading and make final preperations.

we are hoping that 544’s tyres will be ok as they been tucked away in the bays since 96.

we do plan to repaint her, but not immediatly.

will continue to keep you posted and add some photos later today

The road move planned for xw544 on 3/4 july has had to be postponed till later in july hopefully.

The route was to be the M54, M6, M5, M42, M1. But due to roadworks on the M42 the police have advised the road works are to narrow and understandably not allowed the move.

More to follow once plans have been finalised we have a provisional date but will have to wait and see.

the speed on take off is ok but the manouvers achievable immediatly afterwards are not. just checked to make sure and the landing speed of the phantom can go as low as 100knots ! surely not !

i am also toying with the idea of multi monitor setup, restricted to having pc in lounge at the mo, and i know someone who would’nt agree !

better post this quick before she peers over my shoulder again to see what i’m doing……….

there was a lot of comments about the US version,
Can’t say i have noticed any bugs really, though i always keep upto date with patches if possible. the game itself is up among the best i have played and there are numerous aircraft downloads available, the only gripe i would have about it realy is the slightly unrealistic take off and landing characteristics, nothing jet powered should fly that slow !!

Glad to here that stage two has been reached, but as others have said why Duxford ? If 558 is supposed to be used to educate about the cold war, then surely keeping her at Bruntingthorpe along with all the other cold war classics would be better. Or was this part of the agreement to get the funding ?
