IIRC it was also the sonar used to modernise some of the Indian Kilos. Is that correct?
Quite so.
Is that what was offered for the rumoured S800/1000 designs with Navantia for the Indian Navy in the past?
MGK-400EM in three versions is the only Russian submarine sonar offered for export.
A question regarding the Lada/Amur class submarine to snake65 and anyone else in the know:
Given the problems with the sonar suite of the Lada(which, last I heard, still haven’t been resolved) what solution is being offered for export? The Rubin design bureau website mentions that they are open to integrating Western equipment in the Amur class. Will the Amur variant offered to India have a Western sonar system?
Currently the export proposition is MGK-400EM-03. Just a foreign sonar – IMHO, you’ll have to go for foreign CMS as well in that case, it’s highly improbable, that Litiy BIUS is compatible with foreign sonars.
…the report says end-2011…that has to be like Nov-Dec 2011.
Btw, she was floated out of the dock in Nov and there was no ice covering during that period.Any new pictures will be welcome.
No ice in a floating basin of shipyard situated in the rivermouth, doesn’t mean there’s no ice in the sea. She can’t do sea trials in the basin.
I don’t like this end of year stuff for starting sea trials. Ice condition.
I would not call the rioters in France revolutionaries, because they only riot (but certainly have a lot of reasons to do so). In contrast the people in Libya, Tunisia and Egypt are in the process to free themselves. They will not automatically succeed, but they still could to do so. Certainly there are e.g. the army in Egypt, which try to save their power, but it is fare from being certain that they will succeed to maintain an oligarchy. You should not be that cynic in regard of people doing something for their freedom, for democracy and their social rights (something which many people in Europa are not doing, which is partly responsible for the declining living standards in many parts of Europe).
In the best case scenario people in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya will free themselves of oligarchs who have been too long there and will get new ones who will make usual promises. Worse, if they get a military rule interim. And even worse if they get militant islamists as there rulers.
Don’t you consider that declining living standards in many parts of Europe have something to do with massive immigration from less happy and “free” countries of people who prefer to live on social welfare created by other people? Why so many people are leaving “liberated” Tunisia for Italy, Libyans en-masse following the course?
Mods, could you move all this pointless discussion to a trash bin?
The Club missiles make a lot of maneuvers during their flight. It might be for that reason.
A lot they do not.
The only need for armed forces have the revolutionaries in Libya, who fight for freedom and democracy. The European governments, who armed and paid Gaddafi to hunt refugees and to get oil, should probably think carefully about their mistakes/crimes and afterwards should help to improve the situation of the victims of these dictators (Gadaffi, Mubarak etc. etc.).
In what way “the revolutionaries” in Libya are different from rioters in France? Or do you call them “revolutionaries” as well? Do you consider that Egyptians will be more free and democratic under rule of the Army? What the hell has this issue to do with PLAN News anyway?
Thanks again. But isn’t this stuff just general electromagentic pulse-related research? It doesn’t say anything about electromagnetic catapults. What’s more, this research looks mainly R & D oriented, it isn’t developed anywhere near as much for EMALS to be a reality.
—PS: I don’t want to seem greedy, but after everything you’ve showed me, is there a chance you have information on the Soviet Mars-Passat radar system as well?:dev2:
This is the stuff which is the result of NIR “Shampun'” which I mentioned previously – “mag-lev” sledge for launching a plane. It’s not developed as far as EMALS mainly because there is no requirement for one.
Regarding Mars-Passat, this is the closest you’ll get to it on Internet, I’m not sure you will manage to lay hands on Malinovsky’s book which is mentioned in the link:
Thanks a lot!:D And some information on the EMALS project?

Interesting. You’ve got all kinds of juicy information.:D
Could you give me a few links? I don’t mind if they’re in Russian.
In any case, provided the PAK-FA has the STOL capability required the simplest solution would be STOBAR. For AWACS they could revive the old An-71 STOL project(they’d need to design and build a new naval AWACS plane anyway).

And so on…
From what I’ve read the USSR only ever got as far as building and testing a simple prototype at the NITKA facility in Ukraine(and even that’s a rumour).
It’s not a rumour. In 1986 so-called “technological” steam cat BS-1 was operational at NITKA. It was used for tests of Svetlana-2 arrestor system. Main problems which were not solved at that time – leaking expandable seals for catapult cilinders and heating system for Arctic operations.
It has to be added that since early 80’s (for around 15 years) IVTAN (Institute of high temperatures) together with TsAGI and MiG design bureau were involved in NIR “Shampoo” designing EMALS.
Try to match this. Ever.
Is it KASHTAN or PALMYA behind the AK-76 gun?
What is the latest on the DAGESTAN and BUREVESTNIK? Are they going to be identical to the Vietnamese ones? I heard they will get a helicopter hangar.
Palma. They are not identical. UKSK instead of Palma and (????) Duets instead of AK-630M.
is that really it? I thought it had those stealthy flat sided structures?
this looks something from the USSR era?
